Or til Saturday. Hit was not vicious but was a head first contact. - K-man25
Contact to the head and blindside hit.
I won't dare guess how long the suspension will be but it's almost certain he's not playing on Saturday.
Which might be for the best for things not to escalate. |

Fair warning vent here and probably not saying anything that hasn't already been said in the 30+ pages but ...
I really don't get the direction this off-season. Holtby + Schmidt = 10.3 million vs. Markstrom + Tanev = 10.5 million.
Markstrom is a guy you spent years developing, was there through the down years ... he's peaking at a time when the team is on upswing, he's exactly where you want your goalie to be. But they go Demko, and I tried to get onboard understanding going to lose him if you sign Markstrom in expansion. But here's the thing, no guarantee you lose him. 31 other teams. Maybe Seattle like another goalie more. Are they going to evaluate half a playoff series from 2020 and that's it? Demko may end up being awesome, I hope he is. But if I'm gambling, I'm taking Markstrom based on proven even if I lose Demko. DiPietro in the wings could be backup and/or sign or trade for a million dollar backup like an Aaron Dell or Alex Stalock type. Now we're left with Lou's 3 million cap hit where the saving grace was at least we got our long term starter out of that, which we had for the down years and dropped for the (hopefully) better years to come after all the development.
Then Tanev = heart and soul. That guy did everything, and I just don't think it looks good to let a guy like that go. That gap toothed OT winner picture could have been plastered all over the building and promos and that's the kind of winning attitude that breeds winning. They say he'll start trending down. OK if it's all about stats then why Holtby ... writing on the wall statistically there year over year over year. Both Tanev and Marky groomed our young guys through tough times and i just think that gets undervalued team chemistry wise.
Toffoli I know seems like a captain obvious now but I was so mad at that one at the time. Just a chemistry thing - when you find something that clicks so well you find a way to hold on to if possible ... and it was possible.
They could have kept 2/3. They chose 0/3 and to re-tool when things were looking good I just don't get. I would have taken any 2/3 combo of Marky, Tanev, Toffoli over Schmidt + Holtby. And I like Schmidt ... I found myself saying wow who's that guy in games vs. Vegas. But we already have his style and it's Hughes, and Hughes is already way ahead of him. - Sayros
lol that's exactly it...Marky and Tanev left for term and an extra 500K. Team put alot into those two and they couldn't take a 500K 'hometown discount' to stay with the club...they can go fu*ck themselves in Calgary. You'll see how those contracts will turn out there lol
Tanev was never healthy here so why? Toffoli played 14 games as a Nuck. So he's a great fit? He scores in B2B games vs Van and now we should have signed him come on man.
Could we have sold high on Demko after the Vegas round? probably but decisions had to be made. Marky wasn't giving the club that gave him his second chance a break so he can f*Uck off.
So the D is hurt? So what. Tanev and Edler off this roster is exactly what this club needs moving forward and if we have to lose a few games so be it. There are options.
Good news is that Sutter is on pace for 9-10 goals.

They are both just voicing their frustrations which is fair. The Canucks have embarrassed their fans. The Canucks decisions this off-season were correct regardless of the results. Benning (frank)ed up a bunch of signings and as a result they may need to step back for a season - CanuckDon

Seriously though, silver lining of this year could be a GM and coach change. I think it's time Aqua does the right thing. - NewYorkNuck

OJ + LE for Dubois? - Retinalz
What would it actually take to pry Dubois out of CLB? |

How much worse of a defensive liability does Beagle need to be before getting benched?
It also looks to me like Sutter will retire after this season, he's got nothing left |

I'm guessing a game. It wasn't the worst we've seen but coming from the blindside and unsuspecting will be the explanation |

This team is feeling very Colorado Avalanche-y. One good season, then a step back, then turning things around with an influx of draft picks and a good GM.
MacKinnon was drafted in 2013, Landeskog in 2011. It's been a long time for their stars to and team to come together.
Just need to ship out JB and Green. |

Would probably start with Horvat.
Have been reading about it, and CBJ have good goalies, D, and wingers, but they suck at center. Whoever is trading with them, they need to get a high end NHL center back. Canucks are not good trading partners. |

I certainly hope thats the case, however the last season and 6 games has given me more of a Florida Panthers vibe. They did have an awful GM and coaches, so it might be the fork in the road to make decisions on those two positions here in Van towards an Avalanche-like future |

I know some stats lack proper context, but he's just be dreadful. Of all goals against, he's been on the ice for like 40% of them. He's also below 50% on faceoffs, his apparent specialty... and in particular 32% on Shorthanded faceoffs. Its no wonder the PK is at the bottom of the league |
