You know Pettersson will come out of the funk sooner or later, he's just too talented not to. As for Hughes, he's pressing too much, it doesn't help when his D partner pinches or rushes at the same time he does
- Pacificgem

Obviously lots of problems ... but the Hughes one I fear could be a long search for a solution. Tanev was perfect. I know Hamonic is hurt, but I don't think he will be. Jury out of course gotta give a guy a fair shake ... but there's a reason he had to accept league min. and tanev got 4.5 mil. They aren't rocket scientists in Calgary. I have the displeasure of watching alot and hearing alot of flames games and hockey talk. They hated him here, and it's not because he didn't put up points.

That's the kind of chemistry that you hate to lose. I'm sure Hughes will develop and pick his spots better, but how fun would it have been to have a couple more years of him playing the way he did last year with full confidence his D partner had the capability to cover, close the gaps, etc. It's not just a guy to stay back while he goes up, it's minimizing the damage through positioning if something goes awry. It takes D men time to learn the nuances and how to cover a guy, know when he's gonna go. Tanev and Hughes clicked fast. Could be some time till that happens again.

They should give Beagle, Sutter and Gaudette a pail to carry the puck in as they can't seem to do it for more than one and a half strides with it on their sticks
- Pacificgem

I don't know about that, Sutter had the dangles last night...https://twitter.com/Troy_.../1352478503787229184?s=09

I don't know how to embed video but that's his sick backhand spinarama!

Baertschi is better than Roussel and he can actually carry the puck, on his stick!
- Pacificgem

I don't really want to play Sven or Loui . Both have no future with Canucks. I would really rather be looking at Michaelis Bailey Hawryluk . Guys that may have a chance to stick more than one year.

Man I feel bad for the guy, he looked very nervous last night. At least this likely means Edler is coming back.
- NorthNuck

someone mentioned Benn is back in.

I'm not a fan of Roussel. Van should have made bottom 6 changes in the off season.

Edler is still on the roster meeting with the doctor today for the second time.

Good part about Schmidt and Benn is they can play both sides. So if someone does get injured they can rotate back and forth.

The NHL isn't a developmental league, jobs are won and lost on your record unless your intentionally tanking. After six seasons, going on seven, under Jim Benning, we are not about to tank it up. GM and coaching jobs are on the line.

Fair. And “no” to your contrived questions.

What was so concerning was not that they lost. That happens, particularly with starters injured. What was so concerning & disappointing is that they looked very, very lost while doing so.

I would like them to play through & out of it and I’m hoping for a better effort on the weekend and into the next series. They might still lose, but that’s tolerable (as a fan) as long as there is progress. If it continues to be *so* bad, changing something may be needed and the coach is usually the easiest and most effective “part” to change.

- SlightlyOffside

True the team seems lost after misfiring and gaffes. You're right if it continues change in coaching is easier then players.

My guess is they'll ride out the season with Green. They can walk away blaming him if things slide. Then JB can draft another core piece to satisfy the lynch mob. But if the new coaches falter his head is next.

These same issues came up last season. Changes were made and the talk of firing went away with the success. Thus, in this early season, wins can be produced when the main players start playing like they are supposed too.

Careful what you say! I got tarred and feathered for the mere suggestion of Baertschi being an NHL player the other day

This year the league is a development league otherwise your Taxi squad is wasting a year of development . I don't care about Sven and Loui's feelings and if Travis fails because of a few rookies in his lineup then is he the guy you really want?

Sorry, it's not, and it never will be. The taxi squad is there as a bandaid. The NHL is a win league, or GTFO.

These two haven't stuck with 3 teams now. Are miracles possible, for sure, are the chances extremely slim they start producing after that many chances.

In the small sample size Chatfield looked good with QH. It may be for only this season but so far he's following in Tanev's footsteps ... getting injured and all.
