another way to look at this too, if the Rangers actually choose NOT to pursue Dubois, that would indicate to me that JD doesn't like what he's seen from Dubois character wise

He is very close to Panarin, I’m sure he would keep a close eye on him. Although, it never a good idea to quit on your teammates, no matter how unhappy you are.

True, but keep in mind these players are young. Dubois I think is 22. We all did stupid poop when we were that young we regret later. As far as I know he doesn't have a habit of doing that type of thing

I would argue Smith is markedly better than JJ so far, even if the metric is just not being a net negative on the ice. That's what I get hung up on. If you want to ice the team that gives you the best chance to win, you gotta play the guys who are playing the best
