I’d rather keep Carp over Janmark, only $1M cap hit and is a good role model for the kids, as he works his butt off. Out of Shaw, Janmark, Wallmark, and Carpenter, I’d rather keep the latter two as the play hard and bring a lower cap hit. I love Shaw but that ship has sailed, too high a cap hit for a third/fourth liner. |

Grumpy Brian Burke was on NHL radio yesterday talking about this situation. He said if he had a player that requested a trade, he'd never wear the sweater again and ship him out ASAP. - boilermaker100
So easy to say that. Completely different story to live it. I guess that's why he's an analyst now instead of running a team. |

Can you imagine if the BJ have the same type of guy negotiating contracts as they do coaching the team.
How would Torts negotiate a contract, Common you're way overrated you piece of poop, we're already offering way more money than you're worth, its a good thing I'm not the owner I'd just trade your worthless ass. - BetweenTheDots
You just described likely every arbitration hearing for an RFA (minus the personal attacks).

May be apocryphal, but I think it was Vic Radchi of the Yankees, negotiating a contract in 1949 or thereabouts (and the reserve clause made all players totally RFAs every year forever).
He wanted an increase. Yankee management told him he hadn’t yet won 20 games - do that next season and you’ll get the increase you’re looking for.
So he did - won 20 - and next offseason Raschi asked for the raise. Management said - how do we know you’ll do it again?
There’s always a reason. |

My favorite ball player growing up - what a terrific ball player - all five tools as good as anyone in the game, including Mays and Mantle and even DiMaggio.
Aaron, Matthew’s, Adcock, Crandall, Briton, Covington, Bruton, Spahn, Burdette - those Milwaukee teams were loaded.
Later, he became a good voice for civil rights, especially talking about the discrination and bigotry he faced both in the minors in the South and in Milwaukee and Atlanta.

Or Bobby Hull holding out Hull's unease with his compensation became known when he temporarily retired after being denied a $100,000 salary at the start of the 1968-69 season, a de facto holdout. It ended with him returning for the $60,000 the Hawks wanted to pay him, a $17,000 fine for time missed, and a public apology. That embarrassment was the beginning of his end in Chicago.

The Hagel move I think is more salary cap related. Hawks are still up against the cap, and are using LTIR money to stay compliant. Adding Soderberg's $1 mil. means Hagel has to go on the taxi squad. Other choice is to put one of the 3 goalies on the taxi squad. - LAHawk
Someone whould have to explain the logic to keeping all 3 to me at this point. Especially over a young guy like Hagel.
Myself, I thought going in Lanky would be the best, after watching all 3 I still think so, but its not like anyone of them is the next Tony or CC.
I guess the question to answer is; Are 3 average to bad goalies better than 2
Lastly, I wish I could comprehend the salary cap issues having the worst team in the league, and like 13 million in LTIR money, and 7 mil in IR money.................... |

I´ll say this is all on PLD. What the hell is he doing there? Real teammate we have there. Real pro would try to bring his best even if you want out. If anyone is driving his value down it is himself. - MjulQvist
Exactly right. The only thing that he controls is his effort when he plays. He quit on his team. Did he just now realize Torts is who he is? No. The baby just wants to be able to go where he wants to play, and he's going to try to pout his way out of town.
He's a turd. (Torts is also a well known turd). |

Maybe if we go back to pre 1929 and the Wings are not allowed to make a forward pass in the offensive zone

That said - it’s one thing to take it out on coaches and management - but not putting it all out there on the ice hurts your teammates more than anything. That is unacceptable. |

Shame on Dubois, hypocritical POS! Did he and his agent not know he hated Torts until after he extracted a $10M contract out of the BJ's? And after he got that security he could quit on all of his teammates.
F$ck Dubois, the GM should send him back to the hills of Quebec and let him play on his backyard rink with Mommy and Daddy for a couple of years. Thats what Yzerman did with Drouin until he got the trade piece he wanted back. |

I know Torts wasn't coaching Columbus at the time, but this reminds me of the Ryan Johansen situation at that time. He wanted out of there, played lackadaisically and was traded to Nashville for Seth Jones. - boilermaker100
Another guy who showed his true colors. What's he won? |

Hawks have been playing like that was the rule throughout Colliton’s tenure. |

Dubois situation probably a combination of playing for Torts and playing in a small market like Columbus. A lot of players want out of there or don't extend with them, Johansen, Panarin, Duchesne, Dzingel, Bobrovsky and now Dubois. - boilermaker100
In Columbus the people can name the 4th Tight End on OSU before they know who Dubois is. |

Many say a player doesn't have any rights or they have to accept whatever the team decides. I wish they recorded the negotiations something went horribly wrong behind the scenes. - BetweenTheDots
Do you understand what a collective bargaining agreement is? |

I think Subban and Delia have to clear waivers if they are sent to the taxi squad? Stan probably figures either one of them will get picked up.

Now that we see some "silver lining" with some of the rookies, time to put them in best position to succeed, and just let them play. Go with Lankinen, for few games. I know they all have given up 5 goals, but Lanks seems the most poised out of the three. Kurachev-Suter and Hagel have shown some hope ... let them play and see how they progress. Janmark is the veteran that has shown the least. Have him sit and watch until somebody hits a wall with their play. Boquist needs to try and keep making strides but the veteran defensemen have been actually worse then the kids |

Don't they need to keep both Delia and Lankanin to protect one and to expose one for the expansion draft (Subban is not under contract next season)?

There are surprisingly a fair amount of hockey fans in cbus. I'd agree they could name more players on Ohio States football team but people are aware of hockey there and do go to the games.
Probably better fans then the folks at Hawks games that would be screaming "shoot" or "hit em" every 5 seconds in the 300 section or tourists that get up during the run of play instead of waiting for the whistle like you're supposed to.

Where is Drew Commesso playing now? He is probably, "the goalie of the future," (for now at least). I have a hard time imagining, based on a very limited sample size though, that anyone would be interested in Delia, Subban, or Lankinen. Of course, that could change... |

Freshman at college, by expansion rules, you still need to have a goalie exposed that has 2 years of pro experience.
