Sorry, but I can't believe you're actually doubling down on the 'top 5' prediction.
McDavid, Draistail, Eichel, Matthews, McKinnon, (could stop right there, but add -Barzal, Aho, Point, Lafreniere), are all just going to get better in the next 2 years.
Then there's Crosby, Couturier, Barkov, Scheifele, Kucherov, Kane, Panarin and Malkin that will still likely be performing at a high level in 2 years time. And that's just forwards.
I agree that Suzuki is good and I wouldn't include him in a trade for PLD, but I think the expectations need to be dialled back a bit. - flyer4ever75
You missed my point on plus/minus. Of course McDavid is the best, all those players fill seats, but perhaps the best platers in the league are those with highest plus ratings. All those players listed except Tampa play on teams that have unfulfilled playoff records or none at all. So who do you prefer .... Patrice Bergeron bringing the cup or Mathews bringing a first round exit? I see Suz becoming a Bergeron like first line centre. |

Would you give up Suzuki? - Aetherial
Come on. That’s a NO. Kid IQ is superior then a lot of players, such an intelligent player.
I could see KK go. |

Don’t expect 'The Shift' to deter suitors for Dubois

Exactly! He’s a #1 centre 6’3” slick skater. Yes he hasn’t put up a ton of pts but neither would Gretzky and the 80’s oilers under Torts. Love Suzuki but he will never be 6’3”. |

Auston Matthews scored 40 goals and 69 points in 82 games and was plus 2 in his rookie season. He was 19.
Nick Suzuki scored scored 13 goals and 41 points in 71 games and was MINUS 15 in his rookie season. He was 20.
The Habs won the play-in round last year, they didn't even win a real playoff series. That can't be considered a deep run.
Matthews second season he scored 63 in 62 games and was plus 25. Suzuki has 5 points in 5 games this year and his plus/minus is zero.
It's early in his career yes, but slagging Matthews and then christening Suzuki as the next Bergeron may be a but premature. |

Barkov is unlikely to resign next year. They might not get another crack at a big center like Dubois. - sjfpp

I think they should probably move on from Torts. He is successful as a coach in terms of a record but its obvious guys don't want to play for the tyrant (See Panarin, Bobrovsky, Duchene and now Dubois). Its the old saying - if you think everyone else is the problem then maybe its you. - CameronJ9
Do you notice any trend with the players you've mentioned? haha
All weak players mentally. All partiers, all mama's boys. Your "tyrant" comment fits into this group as well.
Torts is a great coach, but he definitely is a little on the "men only" side. |

Personally I take Suzuki over Matthews all day long. The added bonus here, however, is that the market value for Matthews is much higher, so I get to have more assets too! (add in some picks, up and comers, 3rd liners, etc.).
Suzuki will win a Stanley Cup before Matthews (mainly because Matthews won't win one).
