Chicago, Baltimore, DC, and the state of Michigan have all decided it is safe enough now to reopen indoor dining. All this before widespread distribution of the vaccine. Others are sure to follow, since it is all based on science.

If restaurants can have 25% customers without violating the science, why can't hockey?

I'll take a shot at that. Hockey arena's have people sitting much closer to each other than a typical restaurant, so would probably have to be less than 25% to be as effective as 25% in a restaurant. Also, exiting would have to be controlled as everyone leaves a hockey game closer to same time than leaving from a restaurant. After taking these things into account, probably not much money to be made if you can only have a few thousand people in the building. But I would guess if things get a little better going forward, fans will be back before the end of the season.
