Hains: The Dubois Sweepstake
According to Lebrun, 3 teams remain in the Dubois Sweepstake and the Habs are one of them. - Karine Hains

Lol good morning, yes I know...but I went to bed thinking about this, woke up afew times to check if smething had happened and figured I needed to write something before anything did happen...plus, sleep is overated |

Good blog. As I've said from the beginning the only way it makes sense, especially in season for the Habs is if it's a poop sandwich based around Danault. Anything other than that, right now during the season doesn't make sense and even moving Danault mid season is a gamble and could jeopardize the centre depth for 6 or 7 games with quarantines. People said the poop sandwhich was unrealistic and had no chance but as I said from the beginning it isn't the Habs issue to fix the Jackets problem.
To lean on a popular metaphor, if the Jackets want to get rid of the giant douche they probably need to eat the turd/poop sandwich |

Far too much made of this French/English thing. They play hockey, they talk hockey, same as Russians, Czechs, Swedes etc. It's a new world. |

if what's being reported is true, that CLB want a center back, an offer including Danault or kk is more interesting for them than Laine. no? |

Roslovic is a centre and Laine is pure talent...that’s why i think that’s a hard offer to top |
|
|

Ok let’s be honest. There WONT be any trade between Laine and Dubois. Why would CLB grab a selfish player that want out of Winnipeg as well? He already stated signing an extension if he was traded west south (LA specially).
There’s no way there’s a swap between both, else CLB would be stupid. Laine under Torterella? Haha, No |

I would still prefer the Habs offer. everyone knows Laine won't sign long term in CLB

Because a swap of problem child is the only way they are getting a maximum of talent for their own equally talented problem child... Columbus has a choice, trade down talent wise or gamble on the fact that they can make Laine happy. It’s not an ideal situation, not from anyone but having a hard headed coach is handcuffing the Jackets right now... Tortorella’s contract runs out at the end of this season and it takes a couple of years normally until his message wears thin, maybe they tell Laine hang in there, he’s out at the end of the season, who knows right? |

well, they could tell PLD the same thing. and if they're not gonna reup the coach, might as well fire him right now. |

And I seriously doubt CLB accept a Danault+. The guy is UFA at the end. Look at KK+
If Bergevin manage to trade a Danault without touching the actual lineup, this will be a steal. |

Nah, this won’t work. Talent wise or not it would be stupid to get a player that already stated wanting to go south (A la Dubois). Keep Dubois then, Laine is worse.
My bet is they want a Dubois-Laine combo and that would mean Ehlers or Connor could be on the go. But I seriously doubt that CLB gets Laine back. I can’t imagine Laine under Torterella and without a real center there. |

That’s possible too Ehlers or Connor, but that would still mean the Jets have the edge talent wise in their offer...The Jets will have to move Laine sooner or later though he doesnt want to be there |

The damage has been done for Dubois, he doesn’t want to stay there anymore...They might not want to fire Torts so that the players dont think they can dictate management’s decision |

I’m not saying they’ll take it, I’m saying that’s what I’d be willing to give. I wouldn’t want to move one of two young centres for Dubois and that’s what the blog is about, nowhere do I say it’s a prediction I see the Jets winning the big prize in this and i’m fine with it |

meh, I don't buy that. Kekäläinen made his choice, he's staying with his coach. it would really be stupid to trade your 22 y/o 1C and 3 months later not reup your coach!! |

Well Dubois is only 22 lol. I wouldn’t move Suzuki at all but depending the salary swap I’d be up to move KK. I see him more of a winger then a center which isn’t the case for Dubois. But a line of Suzuki,Dubois,KK would be scary talent wise.

if Danault rejected 6 yrs at $5 then trade him and a prospect for PLD...take the deal..throw in a pick too. |
