Am I the only one to think that whatever happens, some things never change. A third world war could break out and you’d still be drinking coffee after running lol

Here is my take on that one... Bergevin absolutely has to get involved and make an offer... The reasons are multiple... 1) You can't leave Winnipeg getting Dubois (Direct competitor in same division) for a reduced price... You need to have the Jets paying the big price... 2) If he leaves the Jackets negotiating with Danault and they don't offer him more than $5M per year, this may help us signing Danault at the right price... 3) Dubois offers an upgrade over all our Centers except maybe Suzuki for next 2 years... People are looking at Dubois the way he plays today but I look at Dubois how he played last year in the bubble and if the coaching staff can bring him back to that level, Gallagher will not miss his good buddy Danault for long... Can they? This is the gamble of Bergevin... That being said... Can you imagin how Dubois would be motivated joining the Habs and show the league he was not the problem?

The real reason I want Dubois is because he WANTS to come here, he’s from here, he’s only 22y old, Bergevin wanted him in 2016 which means he SEE big in him and Bergevin haven’t failed much on these kind of things. Big Quebecois centerman with skills and playoff performer.

We would be even more dangerous depending what the trade could be.

Go bergy!

Agree, but didnt Drouin say the same thing when he joined the Habs?

I agree, but like all trades it comes down to who is offering the most. Montreal looks like the best team in the North to me. I am not sure I would make a major change unless they can get away with offering up secondary pieces.

For sure, we have too much leverage over Colombus for a trade to make sense for them if that makes any sense. I guess it comes back to the fact that we're not really good trading partners because the center position is not an area of need for us anymore.

I guess it depends on the Danault situation if he stays we don’t need anything else

Drouin never asked to come here at first. Dubois does which is two different things. BOth are different kind of players.

If they're trading away Roslovic and Laine I sure as (frank) don't consider that a reduced price. "Never interrupt your ennemy when he is making a mistake"-Sun Tzu. Of course Dubois is a good player and everybody would love to have him on their team me included. But given the circumstances right now, if I was Bergevin I wouldnt be moving any pieces off the roster except maybe Danault.

After reading these Montreal bloggers I'd be happy if Jarmo walks away from a Montreal offer - and he might look at Winnipeg or Anaheim, because that would keep Dubois out of the Eastern Conference. As I've said many times - Dubois' a 22 y.o. 1C on most teams, NHL proven 50-60 pt player now, potential to become elite, and he's under team control for 3 more years after this one. Yet you guys don't want to give up a 1st rnd pick, or Suzuki. Last year Dubois had 49 pts in 70 games - Suzuki had 41 in 71. But according to everyone here - Dubois is not as good. And your offer is a 27 y.o. forward, going into UFA, who's a 40-50 pt. complimentary player, and a young C/LW who's not progressing quite as expected and yoyo's to the Taxi Squad. (He's a good player - but I wouldn't want him as the primary piece coming back)
Don't get me wrong - I'd love to keep Dubois, but I believe it's come to irreconsilable differences and he's no longer happy here.
Also, Jarmo's gotta

Mr. Saturday night really doesn’t have great stats this season right now, we’re due for a Price special performance, a bubble worthy one!

A trade call is being set up between the Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets to complete trade sending Laine and Roslovic to Columbus for Pierre Luc Dubois. A draft pick to the Jets May also be included.

Not really because its too early to conclusively state which of Suzuki or Dubois will be the better player. Also it seems you don't want to put a price on the cap hit that comes with Dubois. With the salary cap not budging in the foreseeable future 5M$ is a big chunk of change. Those are two reasons alone to consider that even a Suzuki for Dubois is AT BEST a sideways move for Bergevin. On top of that Montreal would have to give up a first AND absorb 4.2M$ in added cap space? This means that a roster player would also have to go to Columbus or Montreal would have to make another deal (from a position of weakness) just to fit Dubois under the cap. The price you want the habs to pay is beyond absurd for a guy who may very well be Suzuki's equal production-wise.
