A trade call is being set up between the Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets to complete trade sending Laine and Roslovic to Columbus for Pierre Luc Dubois. A draft pick to the Jets May also be included. - Karine Hains
Good for all of them. He was never coming to Montreal because they really werent good trading partners. Honestly even a 1rst+PLD for Roslovic and Laine sounds like Winnipeg is getting absolutely hosed. Montreal won the trade by not being part of the trade.

I am pretty sure the Jackets wanted a "name" as part of the deal.
Trading your best player, and likely fan favourite, is rarely a winning scenario - on the ice and with the fans. Laine is a name people CBJ fans would know. Danault (or whomever rumour may says the Habs offered) is not a name.
Part of this is the PR of it all.
I am glad the Habs passed - I like what they have going on right now.
Fair enough I guess, but I think they gave up a house to get a luxury RV. - apex123
I don’t disagree. But both did the best they really could in tough situations. Laine wanted out and roslovic wanted out as well. Both of them are whiners. PLD wanted out of Columbus, another whiner that didn’t like their situation.
It works out perfect, Columbus essentially sends PLD to the Columbus Ohio of Canada while the Jets sent the other two to the Winnipeg of America. Worked out great!

Also note that their jerseys are pretty much the same color
