The interesting thing about this point is that the Jets only have three right handed shots as far as I counted in the offence now. We will mostly have left handed shots on the right wing so according to our buddy we are going to be screwed.

shief
wheels
apples
lewis

all right shot

but also, not sure anyone is complaining right now about ehlers playing his off wing.

biggest question moving forward;

Ehlers is already a better all around player than wheeler; Copp and Connor may already be as well.

PLD is probably already a better 200' player than Sheif, but its very close.

will these two leaders on this team take lesser ice time and roles for the overall success of this team? I have serious doubts. and even more doubts Maurice will

Not to stir up any controversy but after listening to Sid on “Tim & Sid” yesterday and hearing some rumblings on the net. It appears that the Jets locker room is pretty toxic.

Just going back into time and seeing how Trouba, Kane and now Laine and Roslovic all wanted out it seems they were trying to escape the wrath of Byfuglien and Wheeler. I do not think bullying is good and from different things being posted it appears that the organization is okay with and I say that because Wheeler is still here as is Maurice.

Quick research shows the top ten forwards in the NHL average from Marner's 24:03 a game down to Draisaitl's 21:21. That's not a huge difference. One shift a period? Not sure why Scheifele's 22:57 is such a big deal to many.

Would we rather see more of Adam Lowry/Nate Thompson when we are trailing in the game?

Having said that, do think you will see Scheifele's game average drop when PLD comes to play. With PLD's defensive ability, he will probably eat some of Scheif's minutes, particularly late in the game. That's one reason he is so valuable an
addition.

Copp was very good last game, no reason to think he won't continue that way, the effort is always there.

Expansion keepers: Wheeler, Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers, PLD, Copp and ??? Harkins?
Lowry won't need to be protected unless he re-signs beforehand is my understanding. A UFA.

COMPLETE NONSENSE

1) We all know what a fine human being Evander Kane is.
2) Trouba ultimately wanted to go where it was best for he and his wife and $$$.
3) Laine will soon learn that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. He is only interested in himself.
4) Roslovic was on the wrong team at the wrong time. Time will tell.
5) Connors, Ehlers, Morrissey had no problems signing long term.
6) Others that have left, have been overpaid by other teams and did what they felt they had to do.
7) A number of players have willingly come back to the Jets for a 2nd time (or more in Dano's case).

I thought it was complete nonsense too. There has always been this talk about “the Atlanta 5” and how they run the room and looking at all the guys mentioned when they rose up they threatened certain “Atlanta 5” members. Kane was not going to get a chance as long as Ladd was there, and I definitely would be curious if Connor would have gotten a shot if Ladd was still on the roster. Trouba directly threatened Byfuglien’s position. I remember Buff yelling at him to get off the ice during a power play after he got back from injury. It was like no other right sided defenseman could break through and I do find it peculiar that Trouba specifically mentioned not playing the right side as a reason for wanting out. Laine theoretically threatens Wheelers position and as such could Wheeler have been sabotaging the kids career as its being suggested, who knows? Perhaps the same situation for Roslovic? As far as Connor, Ehlers and Morrissey are concerned none of them are threatening Buff and Wheeler’s position on the club. Ehlers and Connor are listed as left wingers. As far as players returning to the team none of them were high caliber players. Stastny and Wheeler have been friends since they were really young.

Have to remember these guys are all hockey players and young men. Many still not understanding or appreciating the impacts of their actions on team mates. It would not be out of the realm of possibility. At the end of the day, hockey players are human. Only people that would really disappoint me if this is all true are the coaching staff to allow this stuff to happen.

Its funny that someone would even be arguing this, one of Ehlers or Copp is playing their off wing right now and it's going fine.. Lol

I can see it being an issue for a dman who's never played his offhand much but for a winger it's really not a big deal at all.

There's clearly been a problem in the room for awhile and it was before Laine arrived, some just don't want to believe it's possible cause TNSE can do no wrong don't ya know?!

Remember the many times I said Andrew Copp was a top 6 forward who just needed the chance to show it?

In your defense, you have been holding to that position for some time.

Watching Stanley pull the Crosby-net-bank move on Kassian, before waiting out another forward coasting towards him so he can give Beaulieu a clean pass was a surprise.

Beaulieu handling said pass like the puck tried to bite him is not.

*EDIT*
The Kassian breakaway play happened literally the moment I put my phone down after hitting “send”. I accept responsibility for that.

The only thing that Copp is proving is that wing is the easiest position to develop. So essentially we should be happy that we increased our center depth at the expense of the wing.

And look how much better Lowry looks without Copp ....and look at Ehlers no longer worrying about needing to feed Laine

I do not like to toot my own horn. I did predict that Ehlers production would go up, once Laine was traded. Been saying that since last year. I think Copp-Stastny-Ehlers have to stay together.

I do think that Harkins should move up with Scheifele and Wheeler, and have Connor move onto a line with Dubois and Appleton or Vesalainen. The Jets should not worry about matching lines anymore, rather they should just be going at teams, especially in this weak Canadian division, in waves.

The possibilities are endless with the talent that the Jets have at forward. I was scanning the lineup and realized that there were/ are 17 guys out of 26 we have on the roster and taxi squad that were drafted by Chevy. I'm including Laine and Roslovic in that number just because they were just traded. The ones on here who have complained about the drafting should think twice. Is this any other team in the league that can boast these numbers ?

The replacement rate of 2.33 per yr is actually more than the roster can bear which is why we get disgruntled players who don't get the ice time they need.

Overall Total is 21 players in 9 years or 2.33 per year.

Roster:-- Scheif, Connor, Ehlers, Copp , Lowry, Apples, Harkins, Gustafsson, Vesalainen, Morrissey Niku, Stanley , Poolman, Heinola Helle
Just traded:-- Laine, Roslovic, & we also just lost Comrie to waivers)
On Deck: -- Perfetti , Samberg.
Previously Traded : -- Trouba

Not included in numbers:

Limited NHL experience : Petan, Suess , Lipon

Lowry has never been able to move this fast ever. Plus he is starting to score which is a bonus.

I guess it looks like injuries will be the only way Poolman, Heinola, Vesalainen, etc get into the lineup at this point, why change the lineup?

Who comes out for PLD?

Two areas of concern where the Jets really need to improve are:
1. Penalty Kill; and,
2. Limiting high danger scoring chances against.

David Pagnota (sp?) of the fourth period made an interesting observation. All but one Stanley Cup champion since the red line was removed in 2005, have ranked in the top two of limiting high danger opportunities against.

They are lucky so far that they are playing in this weak division and as such should dominate because the other 6 teams also suck in this category.

I am hoping that we swing one more big deal to land a top right side defenseman to help limit scoring chances against. We are going to need that guy once we reach the semi-finals and especially the Stanley Cup finals.
