Dubois is a good young Center....Laine is a stud winger....even up I still think Columbus wins....throw in Roslovic and it’s a one sided deal....no wonder Winnipeg doesn’t make many deals.

I really think this was a win/win for both teams. Maybe a slight edge goes to CBJ because they got Roslovic, but I think this was a mutually beneficial trade. The center position was/is a source of weakness for WPG and scoring is a source of weakness for CBJ.

Dubois clearly wanted out; that’s not dealing from a position of strength. The fact they got one of the best pure goal scores in the game and Roz AND got them to retain on Laine is an absolute fleecing; plus PLD will want out of Winnipeg by the end of the year

I’m not sure this is a good trade for either team. 2 players who didn’t like their coaches and cities going to places known for players not liking their coaches and cities. I feel like the jets gave up more but I think it’s less likely that laine stays a blue jacket long term than Dubois staying a Jet long term.

I think the answer to your question is he’ll be happier escaping torts in Columbus. Maybe given that and his dad being on their ahl coaching staff the jets may figure they have a decent shot to sign him long term. That said there is the risk he’ll stick to his guns about wanting to be a hab in 2 years and this saga will just repeat itself.

As for laine I think this is a situation of carful what you wish for. I believe him and Maurice weren’t on the same page and as a young millionaire Winnipeg isn’t exactly the most enticing place to be. Personally I think jarmo is going to be in for a rough off-season trying to get laine signed but who knows maybe things will work out for torts and the Finn.
