lol winterpeg got hosed

Don't think so. If Jarmo made that trade with no assurance of a Laine extension then CBJ got hosed. Gave up Dubois + 3rd rnder for Roslovic - and that's assuming Roslovic stays in Columbus.

I'm a Jacket fan and don't like that deal .

Do you understand the difference between an unrestricted free agent and a restricted free agent? Pretty sure Laine is team controlled.

I think Kekalainen being Finnish might keep Laine in Columbus longer than we think. If you're going to make this deal and only get back a third and a pending RFA you've gotta have something planned. That being said he's gonna get paid, but I imagine a higher hit, shorter term this summer. If that's the case this ends up as a wash. PLD is a solid player, but isn't a goal machine like Laine.

Laine wont survive under torts.

Ugly trade for pld

Winnipeg is the Columbus of Canada

Both players got what they deserved. Both teams will make the playoffs though, as it seems the canucks' goalies can't stop the puck.

I don't see how Laine will do any better under Torts than PLD, but Columbus will shell out 10m to keep him around. They desperately needed a superstar player and Laine wants to get paid. With Foligno, Savard, Nash all off the books after this season, I don't see them not signing him to a max deal.

Ek, any update on the imminent trade between Winnipeg and Pittsburgh? Surprised that none of your sources said the Jets were working on something bigger. Maybe it was Laine for Malkin but Mario killed it after talking to you.

I think you need to ask the Winnipeg players how they feel about playing with a quitter.

Habs won this trade...Laine for Dubois?...Winnipeg got screwed...and so did CBJ because Laine will hate Tortorella and we will see this scenario play out again....

Fantastic deal for the Jets.

Jets gets 1C and a 3rd round pick (likely a fringe player)
CBJ gets is a 2R and a 4C.

What makes this worse for CBJ is Laine will likely struggle under Torts. I suspect Laine will be benched before his 1st shift.

If the Jets can improve the D they may find a realistic shot at making the playoffs in the North division.

Laine is a RFA. Even if he doesn't want to extend, the Blue Jackets will get a good return for him.

Both players requested trades. I sure there are multiple reason they both wanted out, and if one of the reasons is location, then neither of them will probably be happy. The problem is Dubois looks like has completely quit until he gets what he wants. Laine has only played one game, but atleast it looked like he was going to giving the same effort he always goes. Another couple of weeks of Dubois doing the same garbage he has been doing, and his trade value might start to slip. As long a Laine keeps doing what he does, his value will remain the same and Columbus will get a good return for him.

Laine's QO will be $7.5 M, his ask will be $10M x 5 min CBJ can afford him w/nearly $10M coming off the books at the end of the year. I see Elvis being traded next so their cap hit is better and they won't lose him for nothing to Seattle.

Both teams lost this trade IMO
No way Laine plays for Torts long term so he'll be gone.
PLD wanted a big market or MTL - so he'll be gone.
The trade will end up being 3rd round pick for Roslovic - Great deal for CBJ if that was it, but they'll both have nothing for the two stars.

Don't underestimate that Jarmo and Koivu both being countrymen will have a real impact and guiding direction on PL playing the right way and becoming a dominant player.. book it. He does the single hardest thing to do and does it well.

Cbus wins this trade by a country mile.

No one’s talking about ROSLOVIC? What does he bring to Columbus, maybe heart and soul since he comes from there. Home town boy done good,
needs or has to bring it every night. Maybe Torts and Roslovic are made for one another.

Laine will love standing in front of the net blocking shots, only to be run down each night by loud mouth Torts. Should be a match made in heaven. Poor PLD, going from Ohio on to the Peg must be a real kick in the beans.

I'll be the first to say that Laine and Torts will get along just fine. His beef in Winnipeg was always getting shuffled down to a 2nd line, playing with guys like Stastny instead of Scheifele. He'll be on the #1 line and #1 PP in Columbus. And he'll thrive. Dubois is a 2C brat. Roslovic is also an underrated middle 6 guy. Columbus wins this easily.

This , cbj got a good asset here , local guy and a Torts type player. Not sure if he's available to play now or he has to go through quarantine?

This. Think when Laine gets into Tort's doghouse he's not going to tell him to crash the net or block shots?
Laine is going to get the living $hit kicked out of his body this year.

Dubois had it coming. He'd better at least try, or the fans are going to eat him alive.

Not that I disagree that Columbus won the trade, but I don't think the center he will have in Columbus will be much of an improvement then winnipeg. Also Torts spreads his time around more the Maurice. He'll get more time on the #1 PP, but I don't think he'll get more overall ice time.
