Comes down to if Roslovic can play top 6 like he claims. Big words to back up. Overall CBJ got an offensive boost that could tilt the scales.

I think Kekalainen being Finnish might keep Laine in Columbus longer than we think. If you're going to make this deal and only get back a third and a pending RFA you've gotta have something planned. That being said he's gonna get paid, but I imagine a higher hit, shorter term this summer. If that's the case this ends up as a wash. PLD is a solid player, but isn't a goal machine like Laine.

Yeah being Finnish is the answer SMH lol. PLD best player in trad3. Centre 6’3”...points down due to playing for Torts

Someone who thinks 61 points high career Left Wing/Center who can't win faceoffs
is a better player than Laine deserves no more replies regarding anything hockey.

We have him rated with a potential upside as a 3C but most likely 4C/fringe. He may be suitable for the 4th line for CBJ this year due to limited center options, but he would be 4C or taxi squad on most contending teams.

This. It really all lies on Roslovic. If he can be a 2nd line C then they win this trade.

Perhaps. But more likely if he is your teams 2C your team isn't very good.

The issue with Roslovic is that he is an unproven top six player and definitely not a third or fourth line player. Neither was he going to get a chance on the power-play in Winnipeg

As always, great stuff! With the current votes counted, apparently both teams have won the trade. Or both teams have lost the trade. Some think both won while others think both lost. One guy says that it might be okay for Winnipeg because PLD has a father in the organization - how many fathers does he have? Folks are yelling at Ek and at each other. Right on cue, the turd is screaming at everyone. As always this site is a must see, although it is cool that the clan is actually angry and tossing insults about an actual trade as it was getting a bit monotonous watching you yell at each other about rumors.

Winnipeg won this trade. I don't see the coach/player dynamic between Tortorella and Laine, working out. Laine is too lazy defensively, though he is immensely talented offensively.

Wouldn't it be easier to post under "Eklund?" You don't really think you're fooling anyone, do you Ek? Or you can continue hiding behind one of your other 15,000 alts. I even gave your thin skinned, passive aggressive self credit for predicting this trade weeks ago. Lighten up.

I think both teams lost this trade to be honest.

Or more specifically, neither team could have won it. You have two players that are notorious whiners the second any adversity occurs. These are not players that you build Cup teams around.

Am I mistaken or did O'Reilly want out of Buffalo at some point?

Du Bois and Laine are talented players, but it seems that both teams traded one headache for another headache. I want to see how Laine likes playing for Torts? Grab the pop corn, this should be fun to watch....

People also said a team could never win a Cup with Phil Kessel (mostly Leaf fans). He won 2 of them.

Hasek told Darcy Regier "trade me to Detroit or St. Louis or else I'll retire. Oh and don't ask for much in return because I want to win a Cup."

Hasek was traded to Detroit for Slava Kozlov and a 1st plus a conditional 1st if he didn't retire.

Hasek did win a Cup with Detroit and then he retired. For the first time. So it ended up being Hasek for Kozlov and a 1st.
