Yes that’s exactly what it means. Just like Toronto beat Edmonton without Matthews yesterday so they don’t need him.

Even Hasek wanted out of Buffalo!!

- HenryHockey

This isn't true you jamoke.

He wanted to get paid and he deserved it. We had Darcy Regier as a GM. He ran Hasek, Peca, Drury, Briere, Satan, player after player out of town over differences of like 500k in salary. Repeatedly.

Hasek rightfully wanted to win a Stanley Cup and get paid. That wasn't happening in Buffalo.

The organization is a tire fire but by most accounts, players love Buffalo itself. Vanek basically begged the current ownership to bring him back for 3 or 4 years, he would have even played for vet minimum, but they're so far up their own asses, they don't understand that the poop that comes out of their asses is themselves.

Since Laine joined the team Little's production has been mediocre. Tyler-Bozak-like numbers. Would you consider Tyler Bozak a good 2C?

And maybe there's two Bryan Littles? Cuz looking up his stats, Bryan Little was not close to a PPG player. His best season ever was 64 pts in 82 games. Once.

.75/game thanks for fact check. Regardless he and everyone else had to adapt to play with Laine and points suffered. Fans - Lower your expectations in Columbus.

The issue with Roslovic is that he is an unproven top six player and definitely not a third or fourth line player. Neither was he going to get a chance on the power-play in Winnipeg
- 2.0

Roslovic centered the 3rd line for the Jets and was good at it, had Maurice left that line alone he might of developed into a 2nd line center by the end of the season.

Maurice did not have Laine on the third line or fourth line ever. He was complaining because he had Brian little as his center on the second line. Little had been nearly a point per game player until he played with Laine.

Yeah Laine spent some time with Lowry on the 3rd line, so did Roslovic, I'm not surprised either guy wanted out of Winnipeg when they got used the way they did.

Well you just proved you know absolutely nothing about hockey...once again. As per usual.
- TurdFergeson

As per usual? When is usual? I havent been on this site in so long. Ive barely commented on this site alone since last seasons playoffs never mind Eklunds articles.

I also dont need to prove my knowledge to some guy on a comment board. I play the sport and I watch more than just my team play. Laine is currently the better player that is not an opinion, that is a fact. PLD is a young kid, he can change that if he wants to but he has to put in the effort and from what I've seen so far, he doesnt look like hes willing to put in the work to be considered elite.

Dubois is 23 years old, his career high is 27 goals and 61 points.
Laine is 22 years old and his career highs are 44 goals and 70 points. In fact out of all 4 of his seasons in the NHL he has more than PLD's Career year in points.

Dont give me any garbage about he's be better on another team. Thats a garbage excuse from fans. Top players in the NHL perform no matter. Kessel went from TOR playing with Bozak to PIT playing with Malkin and his point totals were consistent with his TOR production. Same with Tavares going from NYI to TOR.

CBJ won the trade. No matter how it happened or how they got there PLD quit on his teammates. Laine laced them up and just played hockey and supported his teammates ( no matter what issues there were off the ice ). Winnipeg keeping salary and tossing in Jack to give CBJ bottom 6 guy who can actually score is just more goodness.

Solid double right now swapping these guys and if CBJ can convince Laine to extend it's a massive home-run.

Winnipeg fans will be tired of PLD before too long. High ceiling guy who gives low floor effort way too often.

Did Kevin Cheveldayoff hit his head on something? Slam dunk for Columbus – if it weren't for the fact that Laine will probably move on as soon as he can, it would be remembered as one of the most lopsided trades of the last decade.

The real question is; how does train wreck Torts manage to get a job year after year. The guy has to be the worst human being in hockey

1.5 games as a 2nd year player and still played 1st pp unit is not something even Laine would have complained about.

1) 0.75/game? Really? which years are you leaving out?
Up to 2015-2016 he had 385 pts in 613 games = 0.63
Up to 2016-2017 he had 432 pts in 672 games = 0.64

How the heck are your fact checks getting 0.75?

2) I'm not a Clbs fan, so I have no horse in this race

You can’t judge who won this trade for a number of years. I think both did the best they could in this situation as Covid has affected the salary cap and that limits what can be done.
That being said, Laine wanted out of Winnipeg for some time, so Chevy owns some responsibility if this goes south as he should have acted sooner knowing Laine wanted out. Or he should have played Laine on the #1 line and if he was happy, no telling how many goals he might have. I get it, that Connor is a star as well, nice problem to have.
When Laine is happy he will fill the net. I always think of the saying... whoever got the better player wins the trade. As of today, Liane is the better player just look at the stats... the game is about putting pucks in The net and of the 2 Laine wins that hands down as he has scored more than double the goals and ~ over 100 points better.

I agree with others that having other Finish countrymen in the Columbus organization might prove to help get the best out of Laine. If he produces and plays hard he and Torts will get along well. There really has never been questions about Laine’s effort as he has been one of the better Jets last year and THE best Jet in the first game this year by a mile. Even when he was unhappy he never quit!
Dubois she proved to be a malcontent. Now he might turn it around in Winnipeg, but I doubt his dad will have an effect. Dubois is not 10 years old... Jets will have maybe the best centers in the league but it did nothing to help their biggest need which is defence. They are paying $6.5 million for their 3rd line center, plus an additional 26% of Laine’s salary. They also gave up Roslovic who quickly signed and is excited to play for his hometown!
Both will help their new teams. In 2 years or less we will see if either stay or move to bigger markets!

I read a tweet that said... “Dubois for Laine will be the funniest outcome for two guys that wanted the hell out of Ohio and Manitoba and end up getting traded to Canadian Ohio and American Manitoba!”[/img]

Let's see, oh yeah: Final Score CBJ 5, TBL 2. Shots were 32-28 TB.

Well, there are a lot of things to say about the trade, but one thing is quite clear: the two best games by far the CBJ have played are the last two, after PLD was benched, then traded.

I hope PLD plays well with the Jets and gets what he wants. I fear that he won't, but that's in the future.

I also hope PL finds a home in Columbus. With both Dallas and Carolina have massive Covid problems the CBJ are still in the hunt even if they have only 6 points after 6 games.

Maybe it's time for the owners to find a couple of investors so the team can sign some people long-term and make this team a winner and a place players want to play at.

Watched the TB vs CLB game today they interviewed both Laine and Roslovic... both seem excited to get a real shot at making a difference.

Columbus looked really good and did not miss a beat without their #1 center that gave up on them. Looks like they were sending a message like good riddance!

The writing is on the wall. As a teammate of PLD how could you not be glad to see a guy who put no effort on the ice to help the team win go. Nothing is worse than working your butt off to win a game or make a play and see someone not try and let the play fall apart or cost you the game by not doing their job.

I've played with grown men who act like babies and basically walk out and quit because people didnt do what they want. I had a guy leave a game because we had bunch of injuries happen and we literally were playing with bare minimum players. We are all dead tired and Im back covering on defense. Guy loses control of the puck a bit and he's going to it fast and I dont think I can make it so I stay in position and defend. They guy gets pissy because I didnt go for it, throws a tantrum and leaves.

Like grow up.

I was a big PLD fan until now.
