What are ppls thoughts re the PLD - Laine trade?

I think Wpg gave up quite a bit there. Including the better players.
But i get that Centre is a coveted position.

I can't see Laine and Torts hitting it off
I wonder if PLD see's Wpg as the bigger destination he was after

Might be a rare lose-lose trade where both players are not with their new teams in 2 years.

Podz will help Gaudette and JV in complimenting what they lack.

Not a fan of loading up 1 line. I use dynamic duos & the 3rd wheel approach. As for what line gets what TOI & deployment is a game by game & in game match up.

Gaudette can be better off as a winger & use his shot & not be relied on to lead D.

D pairings is lump it & let them gain experience.

Still my biggest observation is too much static play.

On the forecheck I prefer speed & circling 2 in deep.

On the PK pressure the puck carrier.

5v5 d-zone man on man & taking away the forehand. Force out wide.

Collapse only when puck down low but don’t open up seam passes.

On offence more movement east/west up high & also drive wide around the net on forehands if herded out wide. Also hit tight turns like Miller to shake the D. High slot shooters move accordingly ready for any down low passes coming out & the D backing it up & ready if checked. Overall have to win more puck battles that being JV Hoagie Gaudette & other bottom 6ers.
