The Toronto Maple Leafs mourn the passing of George Armstrong, a member of our Maple Leafs family for 75 years.

We extend our condolences to Georgeโ€™s wife Betty, their children, grandchildren and the entire Armstrong family.

Very sad.

Perhaps the most under-rated Leaf in history. One of the first aboriginal players in the league, and he captained the Leafs to four Stanley Cups.

And apparently he was one of the funniest humans on earth.

Great show off the post. I am confused with the Dubois situation. He signed his contract and then demanded a trade. The jackets are not a bad team they are a few players away from going on a run. Yet they cant extend there star players. Just a strange situation.

Supposedly he had made it known that he wanted out long before signing the deal. The deal, from what I read, was signed as a way to ensure that Columbus could ensure that they were able to make a hockey trade rather than lose PLD to an offer sheet were he refusing to sign.

Agree with all of this, was a Leaf Great and a great ambassador for the Leafs for many years. A bit of irony I believe he was named after George Armstrong Custer

Looking at Taxi Squads, or just Canadian rosters of players making under $875k, and I can't really see an viable trades, or anything that helps anyone. The best options out there might be Leivo, or perhaps Perry but I wouldn't give up Dermott for either of them.

I'm not buying it either, Garnsie.

In reality, Thornton is a 3rd liner at best, probably a guy who should rest every 4th game in this condensed schedule.

We already have a poopload of those guys. Why do we need another?

I wonder if that's actually true. I was initially thinking it could be a blessing in disguise because it would get him off of the first line gracefully.

Button is an idiot. Time will tell about the deal - Columbus did really well IMO. Dubois has scored 93 points in 293 NHL games. I'm not ready to compare him to Matthews just yet.
- winsix

I think you mean 159 points (93 assists) in 239 games.

I think Dubois is pretty damn good and has the capability of turning into a Bergeron type two-way guy.

Having said that, he's not even in the same conversation as AM34. Button is a tool.

Probably no morning skate with a 2pm local start.

I wonder when we find out who starts in net and if Matthews is playing.

I'd want Blueger but Dermott has more value so I'd take Jankowski as a lottery ticket...he was decent before last year

He signed the deal so he could be traded. No team would take him on at the cost if they had zero control.

When he starts making that comparison, he really needs to take a step back and re-evaluate his thinking. Going that far off the rails should be cause for concern.

He takes emotional jabs at the Leafs all the time, the Leafs or a Leaf fan must have really hurt him growing up.

Eh, now that I am thinking I'd just take a 3rd or something with Blueger.

Use the pick at the TDL.
