I see.
Well a flying squirrel can hover a distance of over 40 meters.
And that's why the Canucks are going to have a difficult season. - Scabeh
I am embarrassed to have not reached that conclusion myself. |

How come the leafs couldn't be saved by covid last year - Fakepartofme
Leafs were not going to miss the playoffs.
Keep going with past "Won rounds" argument. See how far you go with that.

I was just reminiscing about how man people said Kopitar was done after his 52 point season in 16-17
That was fun |

Looks like a good match
Gaudette was good last year, but hasn’t had a good start this year - mr.sir
Canucks could use a shakeup.
I just don’t like Simmonds on the 3rd line the next month.
Engvall has shown glimpses but we could use him on that 4th line to keep it afloat.
Sandin and Lehtonen need to play.
From teams that are rumoured to be looking for a D...Blueger and Gaudett are my targets. |

Not as fun as the Ovechkin is done after his 32g year. The articles of "will he ever score 30 again" were great.

It's odd that Leaf contracts are just viewed differently. In no other market would that be sucha fuss. The Nylander contract fuss was ridiculous from day 1. - RogerRoeper
Nylander sat out until approx 2 hours before signing deadline.
that wasn't a 'fuss about nothing'.
Dubois clip of his no-effort shift? Can get 10 of those from last season by Nylander.. |

6.9 was never a big number. It was dumb.
Nylander gets way more crap than Dubois ever has. It only got higjlighted because it meant he'd get moved quicker.
Nykander had 31 goals, 59 points in 70 games last year.

Is Byfield playing with them yet?
I think they are going to regret taking him on Stutzle. Byfield sucked in the world juniors the last two years compared to expectations id have with a 2nd overall pick. |

The Islanders over-achieved in a very weird playoff year. It happens on occasion even in non-weird years. - mjones242
People have been saying the isles were overachieving for the past several years
Team on paper is meh.
But they work and play a decent system. |

Almost all players have a floater shift like that every once in a while.
Dubois was just under the spotlight, so it was heavily scrutinized more. |

You are referencing his play without Muzzin but fail to look at the circumstances fairly.
He was their number 1 D playing against top competition. Even Rielly looks overmatched in that role when he doesn’t have a proper partner but we expect Holl to look good in that role? Completely unfair to say Holl hasn’t proved he can be good without Muzzin. The eye test and numbers show us he has been a good number 4 for quite some time now. - Santo_44
Nah I think it's pretty fair to say someone hasn't proven something that...they haven't proven.

Muzzin isn’t covering Holl all around the ice.
Again, just another example of unfair evaluations for Holl.
Muzzin isn’t Hedman, he isn’t making Holl look like a top 4 D. If he is we should of signed him to a 9 million contact. |

Wonder if the nucks do dermott for Gaudette - Santo_44
If it did happen, which forward from the Leafs would come out?
I'd insert either Lehtonen or Sandin to replace Dermott. |

Probably Toronto.
But that's a whole other question if you ask me. - Scabeh
I know but we’re going around the same circle jerk debate. Lou left Dubas a team with certain obvious assets and some real constraints. They’ve both had a few years to put their own stamps on their teams.
Lou seems determined to build a team of $5-6M players. Dubas is going with 4 big guns, a few $5M guys and then rotating in league minimum UFA s. The flat cap hurts Dubas more than Lou but I think (as objectively as I can make myself) I prefer where Dubas has landed.
His problem going forward will be signing one of Freddie (probably) or Hyman next year. I think it’s easier to find a cheaper if not as good version of Hyman than it will be will be for Lou to bring in high end talent.
(There, I answered my own question.) |

Barabanov. Also Spezza and Engvall aren’t playing every game. Simmonds could use games off as well eventually. |
