Danault is doing a great job so far this season with his play to keep his cap hit below 6M

If Danault thinks he is close to Patrice Bergeron and his 6.875M cap hit, he is not doing himself any favour. The didn't even counter the Habs offer of 6yrs @ 5M/yr.

I still say they sign him....6yrs at 5.875M/yr is my guess.

I think Bergevin will not go over 5.5.

And I wish he'd stop at his original offer OR sign Tatar instead.

Bergy wants a strong center group, that includes Danault IMO, the other 3 are 24 (Evans), Suzuki (21) and KK (20). They need experience down the middle if they are serious about making the playoffs.

Can't force Danault to sign, have to believe if he really wanted to stay he would have signed that offer

given Suzuki's performance, and to a lesser extent KK's, a lot of people are enticed to say they don't need Danault anymore, but I agree he's still very useful and an important part of the team

It was a fair offer... if he wants more than he's worth, he's not really dedicated to staying

meh, I don't think they are worlds apart, he might counter with 6M, and then agree to 5.5... I doubt he's asking for 7M+

There’s plenty of time left this season will get him to buy in into what’s finally happening in mtl

His play so far is really not helping his cause. He is struggling on the PK big time, missing key assignments. Julien even cut his ice time against Vancouver because he was a liability because he kept missing his coverage on Horvat .

His line has not performed as well as expected so far either and he is a big part of that.

He won't negotiate during the season, either way he's making the Habs gamble on all these IFs

might change his mind very quickly with the way he is playing. Let's be honest, if MTL comes back with a revised offer around 5.75M-6M with a 6yrs term....he is signing

If he's committed to coming back at all

If he's willing to accept his role

If he's willing to accept a fair deal

And if it's no, they lose him for nothing
