His mouth wrote a cheque his play can’t cash..

would 5.5 or 5.75 be an overpayment?
- Pat1993

It would be a .5 or .75 overpayment.

Yes.

Sign Tatar instead. The guy that keeps saying he wants to stay but has yet to receive an offer while scoring big goals.

Oh and Tuna might be the coolest nickname in the NHL right now. Can't lose that.

would be silly if MB lets him walk for a 500K difference imo, but I guess every dollar matters against the cap

It would be silly of Danault to move away from his home and family for a 500k difference.

Bergevin said some players would have to buy into what they are building if they want to stay.

That's exactly what Danault will have to do if he wants to stay and win here. Otherwise, goodbye.

let Danault or Tatar walk for 0.5M when you have Lek (2.4M) and Byron (3.5M) on the 4th line would be more than stupid

And if you sign him for 6 he may be playing on the 4th line for that amount in the last couple years of that deal

Lekhonen might not be back next year.

He has arbitration rights, and I could see a scenario where the Habs trade him or walk away to save money.

Sign Tatar and Danault at the right price, replace Lehkonen with Belzile/Perry/Frolik or whatever guy that's being paid close to the league minimum.

he'll be 32 and 33 for those years, he should still be good for 3rd line duties, no?

Probably.

But some young guy might be better than him.

I really like Evans's progression these last few years. Who knows where it will stop?

I said the same thing a few days ago.

And then he had 4 points.

He's a guy with value though, easily tradeable imo.

At least we're saving 2M from the Alzner buyout next season.

That should help.

Lots of guys on the team are easily tradeable. But would you trade them knowing the team might have a chance to go far in the playoffs this year?

Of course not.

Armia is an RFA anyway. Trading him at the end of the year if needed is fine.

Habs have a real shot at being a contender this year. Can't screw that up.

To an expansion team? A starting goalie or a 4th line winger? Pretty easy call if you ask me
