Uhmmmm. Exact same mins Ennis had to play on the Leafs and his ability to produce didn’t drop at all.

The point here is Ennis has been able to produce in a top 6 role and in a 4th line role just as much. He’s a guy who can slide up and down the lineup.

Travis Boyd hasn’t been able to drive anything in his small sample size. His shots per 60 is bad. Very bad. He is nothing more than a guy you insert on the 4th line if you are in a pickle. I’d much rather avoid having to do that, especially when a guy we know can produce on this team.

1. Boyd has a career ATOI of just over 10mins a game playing largely 4th line minutes. But sure, let's put stock in shots/60 minutes when a player plays a 4th line role with limited mins.

2. Ennis only put 18 pts on the board while playing with the Leafs. Interestingly enough, he had S% of 14.8 that season which, in using your own words, "he rode an extremely high shooting percentage" (ironically, higher than Boyd's 14.3 two years ago).

In fact, one might go as far as to say that their 2018/19 stats are pretty much interchangeable aside from the fact that Ennis maybe had 1 shift the entire year as a C while Boyd predominately played C.

3. I'm not that familiar with WAR as a hockey statistic. You're going to have break down the exact statistical context here.

But hey, why don't we talk about PS as a stat? Boyd and Ennis have almost exactly the same PS/game rating, bro.

Let's keep arguing vociferously over a player that, at the end of the day, likely wouldn't move the needle much at all compared to what we already have.

Ennis has been hot garbage this year playing 4th line W minutes. So why not bring an extra player into the fold for some cherrypicked statistical reasons for a handful of games?
