From Staple’s article in The Athletic.
Barry Trotz doesn’t mince words, but he usually doesn’t question his team’s fortitude.
“This is a playoff mentality right now,” he said after the Islanders gave away at least a point and possibly two on Tuesday in Washington. “I’m not sure we have that playoff mentality. And it’s pissing me off.” |

Sounds like he should throw Komarov and Johnston out there again. That’ll show’em. |

Unless he is told to put these players in yesterday debacle was on him and only him. Komarov cant even score into an empty net and for a team that is the worst in the league in goals for they put him in. |

Nobody told Barry what players to put in. He’s a tenured coach in the NHL and no one is going to tell him what players to play. He is going to put the team on the ice that He and his staff feel are the best team to win the game.
He’s not perfect and I don’t believe any coach is however looking at his success with this team since taking over. I’m going to give him some time before we start grabbing the pitchforks, torches and put up billboards.
This season being shorter than others obviously doesn’t give him the luxury of time but trust he will address the teams woes and make the appropriate changes.
Let it fly boys I’m ready. |

But after losing a couple games some are calling for his head and questioning his ability to make the proper lineup decisions. |

He’s the coach and that falls on him, but I’m pretty sure he’s not going to go with the status quo after the last 2 results.
Let’s see what he does in the next game to address it and the results and teams response to these changes.

Only a (frank)ing idiot thinks trotz doesn’t know what he’s doing. The problem with this thread is one person says something and somehow the entire thread is labeled with whatever insane thought one person has. With that said the continual use of Johnston on the third line and now Komarov is insane. That doesn’t mean I think trotz is an idiot or I agree with who you’re replying too. You can think playing Komarov and Johnston when you can’t score is (frank)ing stupid and still think trotz is a great coach. With that said if he throws those two out there again I’ll probably take a break from watching that’s how much I dislike those two |

It's no secret Islanders need offense. Especially when only one line is producing goals. It's very simple for opposing teams. Stop the Barzal line and you stop the Islanders. There is no margin for error this season. If a player is not producing anything you replace him immediately for someone that can actually play and help the team. Like I said earlier Komarov can't even score into an empty net and the guy takes a five minute penalty. Guy serves no purpose at all for a team that is last in scoring |

Also besides Wahlstrom who else do we have that can score goals in Bridgeport. Someone that goes to the net and is shoot first mentality. |

I get it and agree. On Johnston and Leo I’m thinking they will not be in the line up next game. Unless of course Barry for some reason thinks the others available aren’t going to be better. I don’t see how but maybe at practice they are missing assignments etc. Hopefully as he said, things will be changed up and some others will get a shot. Johnston has been a none factor and honestly could understand why Leo was out there again after that stupid penalty whether a major was warranted or not it was negligent on his part towards the team.
Barry after the kill was going for OT instead of the win with he he used in the last few shifts after the kill. That’s on him. |

I agree with the bold. With that said he went with Komarov who was huffing and puffing tryin to get back and lost Shultz who scored the game winner. That is on him. |

Quinn for Trotz - mdw7413
Figured the pitch forks would be out on your thread by now
You have a young team. It’s most likely going to take much longer then any Ranger fan wants to accept. You guys had that stretch last year which you played great but fell short and that fooled some Ranger fans into thinking you were a playoff team. Take it from someone who watched that same thing happen season after season in a never ending rebuild.
We competed and looked like all stars when it was too late and fell just short. It doesn’t mean anything. Your team has some great players and some not so great players and a lot of kids still figuring it out. You have a great foundation it’s most likely going to take more time though. Coach isn’t changing that just my two cents.
Also, (frank) off I don’t want Quinn he sucks this is obviously his fault. |

The funny thing is it isn't our young players. Its Zib, Kreider, Panarin(even though he is getting points), Strome. The whole top6 minus Buch. Its so weird. Oh well. Maybe cause its a shortened season and i'm just happy to watch hockey, I really don't care if they finish dead last this year. |

Read the part on Leo and it should have said Couldn’t understand why Leo was out there again after the penalty.
Other than that (frank) off! |
