Do not think Zamula is the guy to look at to add a physical presence. Have you seen him? I think my wrist is thicker than his neck.

Could Morin be any worse back there then Friedman? At least we would have some physicality back there which we need. Defense are to soft in our end.

Friedman, especially for a smaller D-man, plays a physical brand of hockey.

Anyone else see these reports that Laine was “bullied” in WPG?

If Friedman has another bad game, I wonder if it makes sense to give Zamula a shot versus re-inserting Gust. I am not expecting a lot from Ghost tonight, hopefully he can just keep it simple and be in position most of the night. Even with Myers back at some point, I still think our backend lacks a physical element, especially in the slot area, thus wondering if Zamula could add that element. I didn't notice him much in camp so I am not sure what type of player he is, but given his size I would hope he likes to use it to his advantage.

Seen enough of Gus. Give me the unknown quantity with upside over what we know Gus and Gagg provide. So yes if Mark can’t cut it show me the next in line.

Hagg is clearly one of our 6 best Dman at the moment. Gus can kick rocks, seen enough of his play, guy shows zero effort Or awareness.

I would lure Byfuglien out of retirement

Is that possible? He is a force of nature and his career is not over yet.

I agree. I always forget how integral he is to this team. The wheels seem to fall off when he gets hurt.. and especially this year. I just want them to put some good efforts together and garner some points. If we go 0 for the next say week or so, we could be buried already.
- Hextall271

Its a cascade effect. It throws every single aspect of the team in to chaos.

The lines combos, the PP, the PK, defensive and offensive draws, matchups.....

I have no doubt he is the most important player on the team over Hart and Provy.

Has everyone seen the Yandle rumor? Looks like it resurfaced. Today's, rumor is more specific. Yandle for Ghost swap. Any leg's to this? Not sure if it makes sense via the cap - or the expansion draft. Yandle was a consistent NHL'er for years, at 34 not sure how much gas he's got left. We'd be giving up the dream of Ghost's come back and giving up on youth. However, we do have guys in the pipeline to fill in when Yandle's done (if it's not this year).

The article - no cited author - calls it a "blockbuster" trade... Yandle for Ghost is not exactly blockbuster.

I’d like to see how he holds up on defense and in this line up but I doubt he’s an upgrade at this point.

I don't see how it works capwise for the Flyers without Florida retaining salary. And taking on that cap hit of Yandle for three more years doesn't make much sense. And how would it effect the expansion draft and who you protect?

I don’t think we need to add Hayes’ butt buddie either

It's gut-check time for this team. After the outburst by Carter Hart I would hope they'll be playing a much better game today against a young hungry team in the Devils.

The Devils have probably found the best coach to fit their DNA. I think they will make the playoffs.

This.... easy on the Friedman firing squad. One thing the kid does do is play with a bit of an edge...something they really, really need...yes he has to be better, and I’m sure he will be but he hasn’t played a game since March...that’s a long lay off

Isn't it interesting that I think most of us would agree that the wheels do tend to fall off when Coots is not in the lineup, thus should we consider Coots to be the most important player on this team?
- jd250

Coot provy and hart are all in that category for me. You lose provy you might as well forfeit with the lack of depth on d

Greg Pateryn clears waivers. So its pretty clear 30 nhl gms don't believe "jam fighting and snarl" are keys to success.

Hopefully Scott bounces back as well. That line has potential and all three need to bring it. Hayes an SC patty switching places and tk back with g. Need to see a strong effort tonight.

Don’t think Friedman was as bad as everyone is saying. The whole team was abysmal.

As someone that watches but has no real experience in the game plans of hockey...is this guy on target? Do these observations point towards needing to change personnel/systems or more along the lines of working out the kinks and that observational coaching should get them corrected?

Yeah.....just wish he was bigger. For a smaller guy he needs that one quality to stand out.
