Yandle has a NMC he’d have to waive to come here, but that means we’d be forced to protect him in the draft. This also means we’d be protecting 4 defensemen - Provy, Sanheim, Myers, and Yandle.
Now we look at the forwards, and G and Hayes are automatic. So are Coots and TK, let’s be honest.
If you get Yandle, you’d have to also be okay with Seattle having free range to take anyone else on the team other than Hart. I know many of us are down on our FWDs at the moment, but let’s look at it objectively. Like pretend things are alright because a healthy Coots is back.
You ok with this?
I mean, maybe you are, I dunno. Chances are Seattle isn’t taking who you hope they’ll take.
And regardless if you or anyone else around here is comfortable with it, I’ll all but guarantee that the Flyers are NOT.
For that reason, I’m not buying this as legit at all. smells like bad fish. Or good cheese. - Hesh_
Technically, unless it has been changed, a players movement clause does not follow the player when traded. However, Yandle could make that part of the agreement to waive and accept the trade. Then as you point out, the Flyers would be forced to protect him. The biggest issue is why trade for a player and give up a substantial asset if he could only be here this year? Is he that much of an upgrade? I'm quite confident that the Flyers are going to give Gostisbehere a chance to see what he can do before trying to move him again.

If ghost is 75% of the player he was his first 2 years yandle has no place on this team. And its not close. Yandle at 25 maybe but not yandle at 34. |

I read up more on the 2-1-2 forecheck and found this note very interesting; I bolded the lines that most jumped out at me regarding what I think points to the heart of the problems the Flyers have been having this season.
"The 2-1-2 system is great to run when the opposing team has defensemen who are confident in skating the puck up the ice. Applying this type of pressure will take away their time and space to handle the puck. It also works well when opposing teams have slow defenders. Slow defensemen can be exploited by applying aggressive pressure. It is critical to have the first two players keep their feet moving through the entire process. When forecheckers hesitate using a 2-1-2, a good defense pair on the opposing team will use the extra second or two to find an outlet pass – usually D-to-D. Thus you must skate hard all the way through the forecheck." - jd250
Sounds familiar to what someone else has been saying. Wonder who that is. Could've just accepted what I've been telling you.

Matt Murray was never very good outside of maybe a 25 game stretch. His team played very well in front of him on their cup runs and their system was very collapsed defensively and allowed nothing inside on him. You saw it at the world cup in 16 too he was awful. His poor play cost north America a chance at the finals. |

Einhorn is Finkel, Finkel is Einhorn. I have absolutely no faith in Shayne Gostisbehere. Him and Erik Gustafson might as well be blond brothers. I would be blown away, if ghost on the top pair lasted all season. |
