No its pretty obvious he's on the block. They floated him in the offseason and again now. He was removed from all pp until he gets more consistent on 5 on 5. He was benched for a bad showing. And its being reported by every major outlet not just Eklund that his name is out there.
He would not be traded for friedmam or hagg period. Those guys are salary pieces to make a deal work. Youre looking at a 2nd and prospect or a first rounder. - Tfaehner
Ive read those as well, i know everyone is reporting it. Still doesnt make sense to me for the Blues to trade him

We've all been saying for years "He needs to shoot more rather than look for the pass...". We could be talking about Coots, G, Jake, and then Hayes and now Patrick.
For the first four you should just realize they're not going to change their instincts now no matter how much it'd be swell. Their instinct is playmaker (actually something we desperately needed in the pre Forsberg era of Roenick, Primeau, et al -- how times have changed!)
We need a Gagne, someone who can take the blind playmaker pass at even strength and has the hands to put it in the net. I swear that's what management was hoping from JvR, but he's just pp deflections -- not the same thing. Oscar was looking like a candidate until he got sick. TK was looking like the candidate but now???
How do you have a team of playmakers without the guy who can get in position to receive the unexpected pass and finish? Makes more sense to get one than to expect our leopards to change their spots.
If we had had Forsberg without Gagne we'd have been talking about his needing to shoot more. - therabbi
This is exactly what I have been saying since before the season started, I believe the Flyers need that 40+ goal scorer who has that shoot first mentality. I think that is exactly what Hextall was hoping for when he signed JVR, but I can tell you he was stupid to think so. As you state he is a PP deflection guy, when he feels like going into the hard areas. There is no way Toronto would have let him walk if JVR was that guy. Maybe Tyson Foerster will be that guy, I can only hope.

They have plenty of offense with parayko and now Krug. They seem to want someone more defensively sound rather than the risk dunn plays with. |

Its a shame. There's likely only two reasons for this - health or scandal. Hopefully its cause he kicked Letang in the balls though |

Per AV myers went to him and said put him in hes ready and rotated in with Friedman at practice. Av says he's not quite ready but very close. Sounds like you'll get him back next week. |

Hextall was stupid to think so? How do you explain that in his last season in Toronto before signing with the Flyers, JVR scored 25 of his 37 goals at even strength? 23 goals at ES the season before? |

Going by the Penguins statement it is health or personal, not a scandal.

Except they dont. What 40 goal scorer did they have in 2010? If we had a NHL goalie in net we would have had a Stanley Cup

It definitely wouldn’t make sense if you assume one of these players are going the other way. - SuperSchennBros
THe main piece going back is picks or prospects. Hägg or Friedman is for cap purposes. |

So what do we do if myers come back this weekend ? You're now with 8 defenseman. Friedman or gus would need to be waived to be sent to the taxi squad. If its me im putting gus on the wire. |

Ok, I didn't think he scored that many ES goals, but then how to explain Toronto letting him walk for nothing? Its not like he signed for $10M/season here. |

The 2009-2010 team is a bad example on your part because 1. they barely even made the playoffs (won a shootout in the last game of the year) and 2. They didn't win the cup ultimately.

So it's another example of how you're uninformed. Which normally is okay but you have a habit for hyperbole. "Hextall was stupid". Last night was a "poop show". Telling posters "have you actually watched the game when you've been consistently wrong as I've pointed out in our interactions.
I explain it by looking at the Leafs cap situation and needing to upgrade their defense. So how could they afford JVR at 7M? They had to get rid of other good players such as Kasperi Kapanen for cap reasons. "Have you been paying attention?" |

Simple cap management. They couldn't afford a $6-7M third-line winger w/ the kinds of players they had to resign/sign. |

Gus isnt going on the wire. Friedman goes easily. Gus is hardly the only guy struggling and unlike most of the guys on this roster he an excuse. He's new and learning a new system. Whats everyone else's excuse?
If you can upgrade our D i have no problem with him being the cap casualty but other than that hes staying on the roster for at least half a season

Doesnt matter how you get in. LA won the cup barely making the playoffs. My point was the Flyers had the better team up front

Too early in the season to risk losing Gustafsson on the waiver wire. Gostisbehere played well last night but he needs to show he can do it night in and night out. Still need the depth. |

First, No, I have not been paying attention the the freak'n Maple Leafs at the depth that you apparently do. Second, I have not been consistently wrong, but I have been wrong on occasion and that's OK, SO HAVE YOU, whether you want to admit it or not. So I have no problem admitting, for example, that I didn't realize that JVR scored so many ES goals nor that I didn't realize what a plus Corsi he was with Toronto. So I can see why now Hextall wanted him, though now that we have a few years of hindsight, was it the right move? NO!
And for the record, I don't ask posters if they have actually watched the game, I have only asked you that question and for good reason, because of some of the takes you have posted here. Last night was a "poop show" IMO and I explained why I thought so. If you think it wasn't, great, wonderful, that's your opinion based on what you watched. But lets make it clear, there is only one poster on this site that bashes anyone who doesn't see the same thing he sees, and that is undoubtedly, without question --- YOU!
BUT I still like you ... and still value your inputs!
