for more pitching? We got Matz yesterday.

Springer, Semien, Matz and Yates... Not a bad off-season for the Jays

- PatC80

Maybe. Pitching is the thing that you'll always need. The saying is "you can never have enough pitching".

Pearson, as good as I think he can be, has only pitched about 70 innings the past 2 seasons. So the Jays rotation still needs work, even with the addition of Matz.

Trying to trade for another starter would be smart, in my opinion.

Agreed. The signing of Springer alone makes the off-season great.

Yeah, I noticed that. Really odd. That shouldn't be like that in a 56 game schedule

Wondering if there's some COVID related protocols that are making things funky?

In season trades are made too.

I think they might get a decent number 3 and go hard for a 2 at the TDL this year.

Probably, NBA teams play in the same buildings as a lot of these teams.

The "Freddy haters" shtick is funny.

I think we can all agree Freddy has been good the past 3-4 games and we would all love for him to go Veznia mode and prove all of us wrong.

I was always impressed by the biathlon, watching them lower their pulse and get under control to shoot.

That's the one sport I always want them to show more of during the Olympics.

Let's not get too excited about Freddie just yet:

2.84 GAA and .896 S%. His GSAA is also a -1.64 which is pretty stinky. Other fancy stats like XGA are pretty poopty too.

Small sample set but I'm not willing to admit he's improved on last season's form just yet. At the very least, he hasn't been "great".

- mjones242

Ok so...dont enjoy the moment?

Makes sense. I can see them doing that.

Starting to look like there's no chance they'll entice Bauer to sign here, but there are still a few decent free agent options.

So John Gibson is amazing and Brian Burke traded that pick to "Move up" for Tyler Biggs.
And we are supposed to value Burke's "Opinion" on SN.

He made a bad trade or two, his opinion is worthless.

I always liked Freddy. It has been great for years to have a stable, reliable goalie in net for us.

But then I started listening to some of the haters on here, and, they pulled me closer to their side with the "soft" goals and is Freddy "clutch enough" in the playoffs for the Cup win.

So I stand firmly on the thin line between the love him and hate him.

But NOTHING could be more true than your final statement...."Veznia" mode would be AWESOME!!! Would love nothing more than Freddy to have a great run for the Leafs to win big!

We’ll see, 31 points from Graves on his 1st night certainly won’t help me

I don't have confidence in Freddy to be where he was 2-3 years ago, he would flat out steal 3-4 games a year and I just don't see him being good enough to do that anymore.

But if the Leafs can play like they have to start the season we won't need Freddy to be at that level, he can be an average starter and we will get quality starts.

Time to move on from him at the TDL or the offseason though. But I'd love for him too prove me wrong and win the veznia this year.

I have mentioned it a few times but I want Binnington, entering FA at 28 he will give the Leafs prime goaltending at least until the big 4s contracts are over. Toronto boy and will likely cost 5M at 4-5 years.

I had him, changed a lot last minute - but at least Gibson in goal was one of the good changes.
