I'm also reminded of what Charlie Francis said in the Dubin inquiry:

Steroids were worth about one meter in the 100-meter dash. You needed to decide whether or not you wanted to start with that handicap.

Clemens knew all the hitters were juicing. What was wrong with leveling the playing field?

- Atomic Wedgie

I think it's about the integrity of the HOF, the players in there and their records, and not what everyone else was doing.

There's alot of truth in that. I always thought Howie Booger was always cheering for the Leafs opponents. We all saw Dreger embarrass himself about supposed offer sheets. Steve Simmonds rarely has anything good to say about the Leafs.

The leafs have the pleasure of known "leaf homer" Jim hughson call their games, and admitted leaf hater Craig Simpson....

makes me wonder how many cy young awards Johnson, Carleton and Maddux would have if they were juicin
- senstroll

I've sadly come to the conclusion that everyone in that era might have been juicing in some way.

Obviously there's no proof against ehse guys, but it's hard not to consider it a possibility.

I'd put them all in. I think they should be juicing in baseball. All the best and iconic massive headed guys were.

As bizarre as it seems, I'm going to stick up for sports writers of a certain era in Toronto.

The Leafs were a franking embarrassment for 20 years, had a couple of good years in the mid-1990s, embarrassed themselves again, had a couple of good years in the mid-2000s, and embarrassed themselves again for another decade.

The reporters who called them out on it were pilloried by Leafs Nation. They were only telling the truth.

Bob Cole hated the Red Wings when they were good. He'd cream in his pants each time the other team scored. Then he'd sound like his entire family died when the Wings scored. 🤣

Best player in that era by far is Griffey. I don't think he juiced. What an amazing athlete and maybe best pure swing ever.

I'd rather have my teams media tell the truth. For the last decade of the Ken Holland era in Detroit, writers like Helene St. James, Ansar Khan, Ted Kulfan, etc would always sugar coat the Red Wings demise and justify each one of Holland's horrible moves .

I still remember HSJ telling Red Wings fans that Holland not re-signing Marian Hossa was a blessing in disguise. Huh?

Oh yeah Burkey. 🤣

"I like Kyle..." Burkey then proceeds to rip every move Dubas has ever made.

- gergeswillems

I always love the irony of the guy who made the Kessel trade ripping Dubas for having Nylander on the team.

True. I didn't care. I loved Bob Cole's voice. It was always better than Ken Kal's radio voice. He literally sounds like he's climaxing.

That's what I mean! Burkey is the last guy who should get to rip the Leafs since he ran the franchise into the ground. Even though alot of what he says is true. He does know the game. I just find it hilarious I guess.

There was no need to send the indictment to the Senate so quickly.

Now all it does is slow down Biden's agenda, and give the Republicans a key victory early in Biden's term (yes, I know that Biden didn't do this, but it will be tied to him).

Why not wait a couple of months and see what other poop comes out? At least make it more embarrassing for the Republicans who vote to acquit.

Hell, as it stands now, I wouldn't vote to convict. If you look at everything he said, it treads the line and implies quite a bit to rabid, stupid followers - but he never gives a direct order.

- Atomic Wedgie

There's a pretty straight line between what he said, what he did and what he didn’t do and what happened at the Capitol. I don’t think there will be much difficulty in showing that and showing that Republicans are more afraid of Trump than they are committed to the country. Impeachment trial will do this again.

There are no good options on timing. Biden is getting his Cabinet confirmed now and Republicans will get a chance to approve his recovery package. Before the trial starts he’ll try to work with them. They’ll walk away, rediscovering the deficit.

In the meantime, he’s getting a lot done on his own and is very high in the polls. Covid and vaccines are make or break for him politically.

Doing the trial in two weeks from now will mess up the legislative part of his agenda but putting it off for months would be minimizing what was a really serious action.

Love Griffey Jr. And not only because I played his game on super nintendo for hundreds of hours.

He was an amazing player. Might be my favorite of all time with Vladimir Guerrero.

Just like the other names mentioned, I want to believe he was completely clean.

But I can't completely dismiss the possibility of him using some form of steroids, if only to recuperate faster.

It's the way the game was played in that era.

It's funny he gave up 2 lottery picks for a one-dimensional winger, but keeping a winger they drafted and signing him is such a mistake by Dubas.
