I don’t believe he’ll ever become what he was projected to but I’m starting to think hanifin’s past issues had more to do with confidence and that tanev is partly responsible with his recent success.

Firstly whenever Gio was out last year hanifin’s pairing was slotted first. While you would expect a guy that was at best mediocre throughout his tenure to struggle with more minutes and stronger competition he often played better. Perhaps this is the result of the mental boost one would get from their coach telling them they’re the go to guy.

Secondly while tanev’s underlying stats may not have been terrific last year I don’t think Hughes takes the risks he did as a rookie without a reliable partner like that. As well having a veteran leader next to you on the bench would be a positive influence.

In short I don’t think hanifin plays like he has been without tanev as his partner. Hopefully the more he plays like this the more it will become habit rather than going above and beyond.

I can't even enjoy watching games anymore since Molson stopped bring in Coors Banquet. Now they are trying to fleece people by the same can but Coors Original which tastes like the piss of a ram.

Should be a good game tonight. I think the Flames will be the first decently built team the Habs have played all year.

Just got home and its 2-0 already its like ground hog day hockey for the Flames. Is Montreal just that good or do the Flames just suck. (Reaches for a shot of Jack Daniels )

Two power play goals with the first penalty being a weak call and the second goal has been right in line with the theme lately of going off our own guys and in (wait until you see the highlight).

Aside from the penalty kill we had a solid first period carrying most the 5v5 play.

I know Rittich has to get some games in but FFS Ward put him in a back to back game. They pay a goalie big money and they are coming off two losses, Markstrom should've started (now 3 losses, check notes as Todd would say) I know its early but in this shortened season if the Flames play like this hello last place.

1) Hanifin-Tanev should be the top pair.

2) Valimaki needs a partner besides the boat anchor nesterov.

3) Bring in some youth for that 4th line.

4) Quarantine ward for 2 weeks.

5) Chucky needs to be Captain of this team.

And poor F()cking Bennett. Trade the kid and give him a chance somewhere else. What is he ever going to achieve with the plugs we give him.

What the hell are we going in a trade for Bennett, he has no trade value. Maybe a 3rd round draft pick. He only plays well in the playoffs.

You can’t blame Rittich for this loss, first two goals certainly were not his fault and the Flames were essentially shut out. They play almost every other night for the rest of the season, when did you want them to insert Rittich.

You still think Bennett has a chance to be successful? Every time he’s given an opportunity, he messes it up by taking stupid penalties in the offensive zone. Even last night I noticed when he could’ve played the body but instead got his stick in the persons body instead; it didn’t result in a penalty but it’s just what he does in the regular season. He knows how he has to play but every regular season he reverts back to a guy with little iq and poor decision making.

I like Bennett and hope for the best but he is what he is. You have to survive his regular season so you can reap his playoff rewards.

Well that was an awesome effort last night. This team needs an injection of youth. Ward’s too stupid to realize that, playing that pos Nordstrom Over our youth is a huge mistake. Would rather Treliving taken a chance on Perry than signing that useless plug.

Ryan looks useless as well, time to sit and watch a game or 10.

What’s wrong with Backlund? Shadow of his former self.

Watched Simon play with 13 & 23 the last 2 games, it’s not working, enough already! The guy continually gives the puck away.

Nesterov had a tough game, he’s playing with a rookie that can’t cover his mistakes. If this is what we can expect, then it’s time Krylington gets a chance.

Not blaming Rittich but that 4th goal was atrocious. He looks like his confidence is shot, the first 2 goals although not his fault, we’re very deflating. The fragile core could not recover.

I agree with most of that. I disagree on Backlund. He linemates change every game. Once Dube is back put Mang back with him and he’ll be fine.
