Though the game start for the Flyers was very poor, this game ended up being a step in the right direction. The positives include 1. The 3rd period was the best period of hockey this Flyers team has played all season, 2. The Flyers dominated on faceoffs which really fed into their puck possession and PK effectiveness, something that has been lacking this year, 3. The 4th line of Bunnaman, Raffl and NAK were terrific when the team needed them the most, and 4. Carter Hart played a great bounce-back game.
However there were some negatives which include 1. Another poor start to the game by the Flyers, Hart was the only player ready to go at the opening puck drop, 2. The Flyers had only 8 shots on goal after 2 periods (too many players wanting to pass on this team) and 3. Scott Laughton is no where near the player he was in the playoffs just a few months ago.
Overall, the Flyers were lucky they were playing the Devils, because otherwise this game would have been over by the midway point of the game. Still lots of work to do, but at least they finished strong and have something to build on. |

Is laughton not the same player or does laughton struggle with the added responsibility of being a center vs being a wing ? |

Hayes needs to get his head out of his butt as well, he has not been good. The spinorama prayer pass needs to end. |

Simmer with his 3rd and the oilers have 3 wins, but hey mcd and D both lead the league in points - wcorvette
I want Simmonds to scratch whatever rounds out to be 20 in a 56 game season so bad. |

He's married to Brittani Prosser.
(Nate Prosser, that is—not Fletcher.) - Bendecko
I found out at puck drop Prosser was put in the game, I was gonna beat up on the move with everyone else. When you really think about it. When you look at his stats. Prosser being our 7th or 8th guy makes more sense than Friedman. Friedman you could count on one hand how many nhl games he has. He’s young, should be playing and has little upside. Prosser is a vet, been around along time and can sit awhile before being inserted. |

I'll agree with AV about not wanting to critique a win but how many of the 8 games this year have they been outshot/outchanced?
I feel like all but the first Devils game. |

Someone was posting advanced stats yesterday trying to dog Presser, he looked much better than Freidman. Strong on the PK, kept things simple, pucks off his stick quick. Not saying I want this guy in the lineup for 25 games but he was a nice stop gap. |

If I’m a nj fan I’d be excited to watch the young talent they have. Hughes line was buzzing. Lots of talent they just need some forwards that can get to the net and some more time to figure out how to finish |

I'm pretty impressed with the Devils team as well. They are without Nico and Blackwood now, but add them with Holtz and Mercer in a couple years and they will be fun to watch.
Now all they need is a solid 1/2 all-around minute crunching defenseman, get rid of PK and they could be dangerous in a few years. |

I'll be the first one to say I was skeptic. I knew he was a descent 6/7 4-5 years ago. But what did he have left at 34 with 2 years out the nhl ? He did enough for me to pencil him in as the 6th for now. And once myers is back im perfectly fine rotating him in for bad games from braun and hagg as needed. Though Braun had a better game then he's been.
With the need for cap ill stand by the fact that I'd send gus through waivers and see what happens. I dont believe his pros outweigh his cons. Rather have a Prosser braun or hagg as our bottom pairing guys. |

I’m not thinking they should keep those same forward lines against the Islanders. Maybe he doesn’t deserve to be picked on individually but...TK-wake up, move your feet and then keep them moving! |

According to the blog, the coach praised the Laughton line.

Short sample size but based on that, Prosser has been the better player.

Ordinarily, coming out and controlling play and getting the lead and then shutting the team down I the 3rd period, is the sign of a good team. However what has this team done to think that it can take two periods off and then decide to play in the 3rd? What pedigree does this team have to think that? It's very concerning. |

Interesting choice having Ghost and Prosser on the ice while killing a penalty with Sanheim in the box. Interesting choice having Ghost and Gus play in the same line up.
Travis Sanheim is so good. If we never drafted Provorov, Sanheim would be groomed as the number one. As thin as the defense is, you’d think he would log the same heavy minutes Provorov does. Give that kid that kind of respect.
Our fourth line is really good. Which is great news to show just how deep we truly are up front. I’m very much won over by Bunnaman. Laughton moves up and the line doesn’t skip a beat.
I’m watching Voracek on the PP and as good as he is, he’s gotta know when to shoot. I remember watching Mark Recchi in the same spot, on the half wall, who was also a great passer but if you give Recchi time and space on that right half wall with the left handed shot, you’ve gotta quick release that shot. It’s ridiculous that he passes everything away.
Also I love that COVID hasn’t effected New Jersey fans. They don’t show up anyway. - SuperSchennBros
Recchi HOF, Voracek not quite. |

One thing I am learning this year. I think Laughton is probably not an NHL level center. He is a really good middle six-bottom six winger though. - mickel25
He is a very good 4th line center and a decent 3rd line winger |

In my opinion, Scott Laughton is the type of depth forward that every team who hopes to win a Stanley Cup needs.

Yes, while good 4th and 3rd wing, he can play stretches higher up and in all three spots, characteristic of a deep team |

I disagree with that and hope he was kidding. There is much to critique about last night's game. The two points do not erase the problems.

Don’t disagree based upon play so far. Braun horrible, Gus worse and HAGG as bad. That said Braun deserves to see if he can build on his last half of last nights game. Gus deserves the same after his 3rd period. Prosper you play till he comes back to earth |
