I disagree with that and hope he was kidding. There is much to critique about last night's game. The two points do not erase the problems.
- Scoob

I think he meant publicly critique. At least I hope he did.

The eye test for me, Laughton struggled

I agree. Laughton is fine as 4C although I think bunny is more effective in his own end. Especially exiting than Laughton has been lately. Laughton better offensively

Kind of crazy they have only outshot their opponent in one game so far. 2nd worst in shots per game and 3rd worst in shots against per game.

One thing I am learning this year. I think Laughton is probably not an NHL level center. He is a really good middle six-bottom six winger though.
- mickel25

Chemistry takes time. He did well in between raf and NAK. Getting better with Oscar and bee but have a little ways to go. I think as a winger he can play higher in the line up. 3 rd or spot 2 nd line.

I'll give it some more time. Maybe I just expect too much out of him.

The PK leaves Ghost and Gus as the only rested D when they are in the same line-up. They were on the ice together after almost all of our penalty kills. Nervous stuff but we survived.

I liked the forecheck and somewhat more physical play last night. We need to continue it. We know what the Islanders will bring.

The D when Myers comes back should be. Ghost-Provy Myers-Sanheim and a third pair. Whichever two are playing the best or provide the best matchup for whom the Flyers are playing. Braun and Hagg have not been good for the most part. Gus has flashes of offensive excellence. I need to see Prosser be effective for a few more games before I can formulate an opinion on him. Friedman when playing well goes unnoticed. That is a good thing. He has not been good so far this season.

Don’t disagree based upon play so far. Braun horrible, Gus worse and HAGG as bad. That said Braun deserves to see if he can build on his last half of last nights game. Gus deserves the same after his 3rd period. Prosper you play till he comes back to earth
- wcorvette

I don't agree that Braun is horrible. He makes a lot of subtle plays defensively and is sound in coverage. He is limited with the puck and with mobility but uses his experience in positioning. Solid on the PK. They need a player like that in the lineup. If he loses another step it will be an issue but still an okay 3rd pair defender.

Bunnaman is another guy that has looked good early on, strong on his skates, has some speed, good forechecker . Perfect fourth liner nowadays.

Bunnaman is not better in any aspect of the game over Laughton.

I trashed him for missing a two on one pass but he actually makes great pinches on the wall in the Ozone to keep plays alive.

I agree they can be much better. My latter part of post was the main point referring to them being out played much of these 8 games despite their record.

I’ve been a fan of Braun but so far this season for me, he had been horrible. He did play well the last 2 periods last night, which is the player I like. I hope that continues, it will help stabilize the D. All this in the context the whole team is struggling.

According to the blog, the coach praised the Laughton line.
- MJL

Maybe his line played better overall than he did individually? I think he played with Farabee right? If so I didn't think that line did anything praiseworthy. Maybe I am not being fair to Laughton, but to me anyway he did not look good and hasn't looked good this year.

I don't think that Laughton along with many other players played well last night.

Fletch signed him out of college, extended him twice, grabbed him off waivers on two separate occasions, then signed him to the Flyers. He's basically played almost his entire career under Fletch.

Peter White could only wish his FIL loved him that much.

Last night's game was the classic definition of an "ugly win" But we'll take it anyway it comes so far this season.

I don't know if its a Bunnaman vs. Laughton thing. For the past few games, Bunnaman has fit in well with Raffl and NAK and that line has been one of the most effective for the Flyers. Overall however, I think Laughton, if he gets his game back, is a much better player than Bunnaman in terms of his speed, smarts and flexibility.

Laughton has the track record to prove it but I really like what I’m seeing out of Bunnaman, could easily see him being our 4C for years to come. NAK seems to be all over the place for me, idk if he’s thinking too much out there or what

Ordinarily, coming out and controlling play and getting the lead and then shutting the team down I the 3rd period, is the sign of a good team. However what has this team done to think that it can take two periods off and then decide to play in the 3rd? What pedigree does this team have to think that? It's very concerning.
- MJL

Is there a way we can get Giroux mad at the refs before the game starts so he can play the way he did in the latter part of last night's game from the opening puck drop? It bothers me that it appears you have to get this guy mad to get the most out of him.
