OH MY GOD!! I was gonna say it but I didn’t wanna get beat up! He does it all the time!!
- SuperSchennBros

Not going to beat you up, but Hayes has 8 pts in 8 games, is a +2 and is 2nd on the team in shots. I can't wait to see what he does once he starts playing better.

If I’m a nj fan I’d be excited to watch the young talent they have. Hughes line was buzzing. Lots of talent they just need some forwards that can get to the net and some more time to figure out how to finish

Agree. This season is a development year for us Devil's fans. I'd be happy to see some excitement, some wins of course, and some development. If you're a hockey fan, you got to admit, year 2 Jack Hughes is a world apart from year 1. He's going to be something special.

I must hate the Flyers as a Devil's fan, but I wish you all good health this year. Stay safe my hockey friends.

Is laughton not the same player or does laughton struggle with the added responsibility of being a center vs being a wing ?
- Tfaehner

Maybe he just had a career year last season.

No doubt. He looks dangerous pretty much every time he touches the puck.

The Islanders have beaten the Flyers nine out of 12 times in 2019-20, including the preseason, regular season and postseason. In all 12 games, the Islanders scored three or more goals. I guess we will find out quickly if the Flyers can build on their 3rd period last night. If they instead come out against the Islanders the way they did against Boston and NJ, it will be 11 out of 14 wins for the Islanders.

He does, but the passes they were talking about have been terrible. Love the Hayes signing so far, and I don't think he's the only one making those kinds of passes, but he could definitely be better.

Someone was posting advanced stats yesterday trying to dog Presser, he looked much better than Freidman. Strong on the PK, kept things simple, pucks off his stick quick. Not saying I want this guy in the lineup for 25 games but he was a nice stop gap.
- ClaudeFather

He didnt kill the team like Hagg does every night. He didn't look much better than Freidman imo. Don't let a fluke goal fool you.

Prosser is not all that talented. He is slow, handles the puck like a grenade, feet not so hot. He came in did his job for a game so that is all you can ask for at this time.

Prosser is a nice, but borderline NHL player. The fact that he came in and stabilized the Flyers D last night should give you an indication of where the Flyers D is at the moment.

I thought they had a really bad game.
Farabee had one nice moment. That was it.

Last night's game was the classic definition of an "ugly win" But we'll take it anyway it comes so far this season.
- Letterkenney

I think this team needs to weather these early games missing key players and not having a full preseason. The team that went on a blistering run before Covid is still there.

Recchi HOF, Voracek not quite.
- Gogol

So you need to be a hall of famer to take a wrist shot on net when you have time and space on the half wall. That’s interesting.

Laughton has the track record to prove it but I really like what I’m seeing out of Bunnaman, could easily see him being our 4C for years to come. NAK seems to be all over the place for me, idk if he’s thinking too much out there or what
- ClaudeFather

I thought AV said that Laughton, specifically, played well.

According to the eye test for me, a lot of players struggled.
- MJL

I said that in another post, to his credit Laughton usually plays well even when the team doesn’t, not last night

Kind of crazy they have only outshot their opponent in one game so far. 2nd worst in shots per game and 3rd worst in shots against per game.
- Ftown19125

They're living off elevated SH% right now. That'll dry up at some point.

I don't agree that Braun is horrible. He makes a lot of subtle plays defensively and is sound in coverage. He is limited with the puck and with mobility but uses his experience in positioning. Solid on the PK. They need a player like that in the lineup. If he loses another step it will be an issue but still an okay 3rd pair defender.
- MJL

Starting to suspect teams are focused on intentionally baiting him toward the outside to get him stuck in no-man's land.

I didn’t even mention his goal, everything else I did was true and he was much more poised than Freidman. Like I said, 5 games is fine, I wouldn’t want him in for 20.

I was confused also by vigneaults comments. I thought laughtons line was awful. I thought Patrick’s line was okay

Slow starts have plagued this franchise for what.. a decade now? This team is deeply talented but these slow stats have got to stop. If we played an entire game like we play the third period of most of these games then I would have no worries about this team whatsoever but these slow sludge starts will eventually burn us more often than not

And it's not up for debate any longer. The slow starts come from leadership.

Change my mind...

And then there's Ghost and Gus, 53 and 56. Jonesy even got in on the act, blaming Ghost instead of Gus for the 1st Devils goal.

It was hilarious when Jonesy awkwardly announced that "there's an 86 tied up with an 86 - that's not something you see every day"
Sounded a bit TV-MA
