Agree. This season is a development year for us Devil's fans. I'd be happy to see some excitement, some wins of course, and some development. If you're a hockey fan, you got to admit, year 2 Jack Hughes is a world apart from year 1. He's going to be something special.
I must hate the Flyers as a Devil's fan, but I wish you all good health this year. Stay safe my hockey friends. - scoopsgeek
I don't think there is any question that Hughes is going to be a great player - and a pain in the a$$ to the Flyers for years to come. I think it was asking a lot of a 160lb 18 year-old to come into the best league in the world and dominate. Truthfully a year in the AHL would have served him well, but that is a bad look for a #1 overall pick. Patrick Kane came in and produced right away at roughly the same size but that is far more the exception than the rule. Hughes has looked terrific this year and it's just the tip of the iceberg. He has too may attributes that you just can't teach. As he gets stronger, they will all be on display. |

Starting to suspect teams are focused on intentionally baiting him toward the outside to get him stuck in no-man's land. - Tomahawk
Of course teams are going to try and beat him wide. So far not much luck. Despite subpar mobility he finds a way to seal guys off. |

Couldn't play in the AHL at 18. Or 19 for that matter.

I agree that we have seen far from the best of the Flyers so far this season, but being able to still weather the storm and win these games is a very positive trait.
Where would we be without Moose and Hart is frightening to think about. Is it just me or does the whole team look slow? I know compared to the Devils most teams would look slow, but all teams look faster than us.. last year there were stretches where all our lines were buzzing and I have not seen any of that since the playoffs started last year... |

I didn’t even mention his goal, everything else I did was true and he was much more poised than Freidman. Like I said, 5 games is fine, I wouldn’t want him in for 20. - ClaudeFather
If Prosser plays like he did last night he easily fits in the bottom pair. Im just not sure if its because he played that good or the other guys( Hagg, Braun and Friedman) have played that bad. But I liked his game last night.....no stupid pinches, hard on guys in front of the net...made the simple plays, simple out let passes. The guy played a poised game. Not sure he can play much better than he did.

Slow starts have plagued this franchise for what.. a decade now? This team is deeply talented but these slow stats have got to stop. If we played an entire game like we play the third period of most of these games then I would have no worries about this team whatsoever but these slow sludge starts will eventually burn us more often than not
And it's not up for debate any longer. The slow starts come from leadership.
Change my mind... - Bob Habib
10 years a 4 coaching staffs! I alluded to this the other day. The entire leadership core of the Flyers have passive personalities what I can tell, G, V, JVR, Hayes & Provorov. Last night for example, once G got pissed at the refs, his game went up immensely and the rest of the team followed. Why can't one of these guys go out in the first shift of the game and set the tone early? Why does G have to get pissed before he elevates his game and sets the tone? I'm not saying we need to take away the 'C', but I do believe the Flyers need to augment their veteran leadership with such a player who can do this.

Wow, I’ll take this as point missed. - SuperSchennBros
I acknowledge the risky passes he sometimes attempts, My point is simply Hayes is the least of this team's problems right now.

My favorite line from AV's presser last night: "You have to ask the players. It's their responsibility to get themselves ready, be in a state of mind where they can compete and execute." And AV then pointed the finger right at G, JV, Patrick, JVR, TK and Hayes, in other words, all the veterans and Nolan Patrick. So AV is laying it down bluntly, the bad starts are on the players starting with the captain!
This team will never be a true contender until at least one of these players is replaced. |

Wonder how come he didn't give them a pass for being a slow team?

Very good question. Perhaps he had a tracing scare and if he tests positive, teammates and our guys will have to take whatever steps. |
