This unfortunate situation in its entirety is making begin to question Ranger management.
- OLDSCHOOL#6

For me it actually is the complete opposite. I look at how the team has been ran since 2005 and I believe they have built up enough credibility with me that this was something that was warranted. I will wait for the facts as well to come out but for them to make a move like this it says a lot. It takes balls to make a decision like this in my opinion. Just like it takes balls to send a letter to your fan base to tell them you’re starting a rebuild and will take time with such a inpatient fan base. I have faith in Gorton & Davidson. Not everything works out and there will be bumps along the road. The good outweighs the bad big time. Does it suck that we just signed him to a 2 year extension absolutely, but like I said before it’s hard to tell your fan base you aren’t going to keep your best offensive D-man last season.

Tony has been a head case and was major concern when he first was traded to us. We all discussed it on here countless times. We knew the upside which is why we took the chance. Last year was a step in the right direction. Then the bubble began and his game went south quick. Is it possible that the success he had last season went to his head and now he thought he was untouchable? Who know but I know for certain that this was the last straw with him.

He cant stop because he, as a Trump supporter himself, feels like its a shot against his beliefs.

Many of us have been posting together for years and the rangers brought us together, let's just keep it that way as no one's politics will ever line up with someone else's

Unfortunately the rangers were always the team that claimed the rejects because Sather always felt the need to help a struggling player... Can't do that anymore

well, lets face it, Vin is the angriest over this whole thing, he's a conservative and there's a belief among them that Conservatives are being targeted and their free speech is being taken away

ironically though, Tony has become kind of a conservative hero, like Curt Schilling, but he is the one who deleted his own twitter to make a statement, he wasn't being "canceled"

I would just like to ask Vin hockey wise if he's really angry about this or if he's going to remain hung up on the politics side of it

if Tony D gets claimed, all of a sudden we have 4.8 million in additonal cap space

don't look a gift horse in the mouth

but I don't think we are going to get that lucky

I'm wondering if a banged up team like Pitt might try. Do they save any cap with him in the minors?

Well being on the taxi squad, saves us 1m of money.

And because of his age a buyout after this year will only hit us for 900k for the next 2 years.

yeah, I did the buyout of the last year is great

I just can't wait until Lundkvist gets here

we are going to see a lot of Bitetto coming up so he plays enough games to be exposed in expansion draft

that's definitely a game changer, I was always expecting to protect Tony in expansion draft, obviously that's now not happening, would they now consider making a trade for Vince Dunn?

the only defensemen they have to worry about protecting from Seattle now are Trouba and Lindgren

Trouba has a NMC/NTC or whatever so they have to protect him unless he agrees to be exposed. I think thats how it works.

yep, that's exactly how it works, so they can protect 3 defensemen, one will definitely be Trouba, one will be Lindgren, and they really dont have another one they have to worry about now

that's why they need to play Bitetto enough so he meets the requirements

3rd pair should be Hajek and Bitetto. Smith JJ are just awful

We won’t see that, IMO.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Hajek. But, they NEED to give Bitetto these 19 games. Only 30 or so games left he can’t be in the lineup for. And I doubt they put them in together.
JJ blows, that is undisputed. Smitty has been good up til last game. And honestly, I didn’t even noticed what he was benched for. Not saying it shouldn’t have happened, just hope it is a short term lesson.

Nope, double standards are cool with him

This whole thing is overblown, stories being made up an published as “articles”, I’m just calling it like I see it, it’s not about my beliefs it’s about treating people fairly and the influence of cancel culture on this
