haha, I didnt expect we'd get Adam Fox hate around here
- jimbro83

I don’t think anyone is hating on Adam Fox, I think you’re just taking it that way

I mean, have you SEEN the opportunities the forwards have been blowing this year?

you are blaming this on Fox?

- jimbro83

I'm saying the whole team is bad but if you're going to be out here giving out individual report cards then at least be honest with them. Fox has been solid, but if he's going to be ADA's replacement he's going to need to step up the 5 on 5 point production.

LAF-He's coming along, but let's be honest we all expected more thus far from him
Kakko-He's playing better, but he's still not the dominant player we saw at the world championships his draft year
Buch-Solid, I'd hope so he's been in the league long enough that his inconsistencies from the past few years should be gone or we need to move on
Panarin-Can't hit the net on a PP and while he's a PPG guy he certainly doesn't drive the play like he did last year

Fox-As mentioned in a previous comment if you're going to waive a guy who had 12 even strength goals as a defensemen and was T3 in even strength scoring for defensemen then Fox NEEDS to step up his 5 on 5 production which is at 1 point thus far this season.

It's amazing how some of you watch certain players through your rose colored glasses and make it seem like this team is playing well.

The team is playing better than their record states. They have flaws, but you can see there is talent on the team. They control play for majority of games. They are lacking experience to close games out.

I don't even understand how Adam Fox is the one getting the short end of the stick because of Tony D drama...
- Bean_Dip

Well I have nothing but love for Fox, but blame Jimbo.

I don’t understand all the haters here. Yes ADA is a bit of trouble... so are most players in NFL and certainly in NBA. Yes he’s a blogger ...so are most athletes except NHLers. But bottom line IS the guy has a world of talent!!!

Would anyone sit the 4th leading scorer defenseman over a penalty late in a game that is totally lost? No

Would another coach then also sit him an additional game? No

Would any coach switch a player to another position in practices leading up to the season then reverse himself within the first 5 minutes of a game? No

Would another coach alienate a truly talented player like ADA and provide huge playing minutes to softies like Howden? No

Did ANY of you see the highlights of Vegas and Blues players fighting before the season started.... and consequences were none.

This is hockey...passionate sport!

Would much prefer ADAs reaction to losing than Howden or Kakko that seem to just be cruising without a care !

This is pro sports and “feelings” don’t matter

QUINN IS AN IDIOT AND LOST MY RESPECT WHEN HE SWITCHED FOX TO #1 PP AWAY FROM ADA... THEY ARE NOT CLOSE IN SKILL....QUINN PLAYS FAVS ....AND THIS IS PRO SPORTS NOT COLLEGE GOODY GOODY TIME

- Lou4Rangers

So much to unpack here. I will try to do it point by point.

1) Most players in the NFL and NBA are troublesome? That's a lot of trouble
2) Unless I am mistaken Tony D is not the 4th leading scoring defenseman in the league this year. I assume you are referring to last year, which is largely irrelevant when considering his play this year. Additionally, I assume you are saying no player should be benched 2 games for a late game penalty in a game that was already lost. I think you understand that there was more to it than that, and if you don't probably won't convince you otherwise
3) A coach making adjustments?
4) Alienating ADA? What? What does Howden have to do with anything. See point #2 for ADA's play so far this year
5) Again I think it is quite obviously different than teammates fighting during a heated practice
6) I'd love to see you support the idea that Fox is worse than ADA
7) You said feelings dont matter in sports and then proceeded to talk about passion and wanting to hear Tony's feelings on losses over other players. Huh?

To be clear, I am not making a statement in my responses on how i feel DQ is doing. I've made my bewilderment at many of his calls pretty clear so far

How is Tony D doing this year in the 5 on 5 points department? I'm guessing really bad.
- Bean_Dip

Not good, hard when you don't get as long of a leash as other players and also hard when you're anchored by your partner.

ADA hasn't been good, he's been awful to be honest but most of the team has sucked, and that overall says more about the coach than any one individual player.

Tony D AND fox are both very talented. I think Fox's defensive ability is the largest area of separation of the two. Everything else is rather close (skating, vision, shot etc)

I honestly completely agree with the LAF take. At least I thought we would see more of that offensive creativity so far. Doesn't mean he is playing badly but I thought we would see the skill pop off the screen a few plays a game

With a win tonight, we are no longer in solo last, tied with the ISLANDERS. That’s pretty shocking, haven’t heard but negativity coming from that side of the pond.

Yea with the hype comparison to makinnon and crosby coming out of the draft I think we all expected some elite plays or goals that are eye popping.

Speaking of elite plays, Mcdavid is from another planet with his. What I would give to have him in a Rangers sweater.

From what I have seen, take it for a grain of salt cause I'm just a dude on the internet...I see a very intelligent player in Laf that has hesitated to find his 2nd gear. I posted a comment in another thread about him needing to learn to play on his toes more. That relates to this 2nd gear where is gets to the puck quickly and accelerates with the puck driving play. This is all in due time with him being coached up and development.

In more important news: Is JJ still day to day??? Please god say yes.

I loved Vigneault other than him being tough on the kids. Flyers were a perfect fit just like the Rangers were when he was hired.

Yep and its not being negative cause he isn't playing badly. Just wish we saw him make some plays where you can see his elite skill just take over and makes a play that makes you go....

AV inherited a good roster, he always does well the first few years with what others have built and then fails. Look at VAN/NYR

I think Lafreniere just looks so poised and is about to break out. Always so calm and smooth like Fox.
