Considering we went into games we lost with a lead going into the 3rd period.... we could have been sitting up there in the standings.

We've lost at least 3 games we should have won. Deserved to win this one tonight, see if we can build on this win.
Have to admit this was a nail biter when Pitt pulled the goalie.

Mika had a much better game even though he was off the scoresheet again. Seemed more engaged.

If we can get more from him and if Trouba can quit turning the puck over, this team could definitely be dangerous.

Think this is the best our bottom 6 has looked since Quinn’s been coach.

Just a quick check on capfriendly looks like only 4 teams could’ve taken on TonyD’s full cap hit, Devils, Red Wings, Sens, Kings. All young teams that maybe don’t want the distraction. Who knows maybe we’ll be able to get something in a trade but I think it’s unlikely.

Mika just seems to lack explosion and strength when he hits people. He always seems to be falling down and I think its his conditioning due to COVID. Hopefully, this will improve soon...

Luckily (not for the fans sake) there’s only 2 games in the next week. Maybe gets him a little extra time to recover. I’m still optimistic about him, I think last season was inflated but not a complete fluke.

Unlikely is mild, I think.
I just watched Gorton and JD’s presser.
They seem like they had to put up with nonstop bullpoop from him. They just seemed worn out about talking about Tony DeAngelo and will be glad to put the distraction behind them.
Any exec’s that watch that won’t trade a stick rack for him.

The PPD game vs the Devils will be nice. He doesnt just need conditioning, I think the rest is important for him too. I give it to the end of the month before he starts looking like his usual self.

Could be a good week coming up, they’ll have 3 days of no games and can get a few practices in. They keep saying around the league how it’s difficult to get real practice time in with all the games.

Last night was the start of good things fellas!

I am starting to feel a little more confident that they can at least compete for the 4th playoff spot, but man some of those wasted points vs Pittsburgh could come back to haunt them

Thy biggest problem is since there are only division games, someone will get points around them every night. Going to make it almost impossible for the Rangers to make up ground unless they go on a long winning streak at some point.

With all points staying in the division, there shouldn’t be a loser point. Should of just had regular OT and if it’s a tie then 1 point each and 2 for a win if someone scored and that’s it. On Saturday, all 4 games from the division went to OT, everyone got a point.

Yep the 3 point games make it even tougher. It’s why the slow start is the absolute last thing a team can do this season

Every team will have streaks. We just have to make sure our winning streaks outpace the losing. We are close, no reason not to expect we could slide into the top bracket if they right the ship now.

Looks like the guy they strap in on the yellow short bus while the rest of the team takes the passenger coach to the arena.

That could also give us the goaltending situation we want. I know Quinn mentioned that the reason he was planning to alternate starts was because there weren't a lot of practices. He didn't want one of them sitting there for 4, 5, 6 days without facing pucks early in the season.

Finally! But, still, not always. I do appreciate him learning to kill penalties but, like a few of his teammates, the puck is sliding off of their sticks way too often, and passes are going into skates instead of being tape-to-tape. The all need to pick it up or, pretty soon, the "shortened" season is going to feel longer and longer for this club.

Update.

1st 2 periods awful. Third period was real good. Kreider, Lemieux and Rooney had great games. Rooney should be the C.

You're welcome Jan

Edit: Trouba sucks

If it wasn't for the 2-3 bone headed plays he has a game, like the missed back hit or the dive into the crease for no reason yesterday, he'd be getting G like comparisons.

Between Trouba, Lindgren and Bitetto, there is some serious snarl on the blueline. Even Miller has the ability to lean into players. And I like it a lot!

Maybe I'm biased but when 20 of your 21 minutes suck, I would just throw a warm body in that spot for cheaper.

I hope he gets better but that contract and his play is looking like a giant mistake
