Couldn’t afford his 4.8 million cap hit, only 4 teams had the cap room to do it. Devils Wings Sens Kings

teams could have moved money around to pick up such a flawless player for absolutely free though

But, if he and his 53 point season are so awesome, why wouldn't they make moves to open up cap space? This is a highly competitive league, especially this season. If a team saw a chance for an advantage, why wouldn't they jump at it? 30 teams sat on their hands.
Because he's a (frank)ing cancer who thinks he's more important than his teammates.

It would’ve covered some mistakes. Bottom line is he was on pace for a 64 point full season as a 3rd pair dman. His defense wasn’t nearly as bad as some are making it out to be consistently playing with our worst dman.

16 takeaways versus 65 giveaways.

"Welcome to the club," said JT Miller to Tony DeAngelo, in a conversation that included Derek Stepan and Anton Stralman

Hey I said multiple times he had his best game.

I just hope he builds off of it. Same with Lemieux for the last 2 games. Doing everything right

I know haha

But this is why I don’t get down when he has 4 or 5 quiet games. This is who he is. Looks quiet for a stretch then will be the best forward on the team for 5-7 games. Been his entire career

I know, but I guess we always hope he would be more consistent. Thats why he gets a lot of flak. He can be so dominant so we all see it.

Its like the girl that gives a 1st great bj, you know she has the talent, but then you only get it on New Years and your birthday. Always leaves you wanting more.

It would be nice if the rangers centers learned how to win a faceoff.

What’s done is done with Deangelo, but getting nothing but maybe a bad contract back in exchange for a 53 point defenseman is terrible. Gorton has gotten lucky winning the lottery 2x, but the way the organization has ended dealings with some players isn’t something I can remember in recent memory. It happens, but there are now multiple occasions of guys just absolutely being done with the NYR and the NYR being done with them. Lias and TonyD, plus last year Kravtsov was unhappy with how he was being handled. Not the best look.
- nyrangers9479

They're working on a trade now, because nobody was going to claim him off waivers at his full contract price; the Rangers can retain some money on him to get a deal done once he cleared. Let's see what the best deal is Gorton can make. Probably no team wanted to trade for him before the Rangers re-signed him for the very reasons nobody would claim him off waivers: he might have been worth his asking price production-wise, but not worth the constant baby-sitting on and off the ice.

30% ain't doing it for you?
I sincerely hope the 4 centers spend the entirety of this week's practices at one end of the ice just taking draws against one another.

Well, the question is whats financially better for the team. Bury him on the taxi squad and buy out or trade and retain half.

I don[t care about retaining half for this season, but 2.4 mil in dead space next year sucks

Yep next years dead space is an issue. Its 2.4m versus 875k or something like that.

Well, there's still a good chance they don't agree on a trade and wind up buying him out, anyway. What's the trade-off between 50% retained and the buyout? I can't do the math.
