I am curious though. If there really is a ton of interest in him now, which doesn’t make sense, maybe they Can actually get some value

As long as they don't retain salary I'll be pleased.

Who knows, we might be able to pull a Scott Gomez.

That would be something.

Oh theyll be forced to retain salary, just depends on how much. He hasnt exactly shown anything this year on the ice to justify what hes getting.

Then I don't see the value in actually moving him aside from actual money savings. They could just wait until the season ends and buy him out. Which is exactly what I would be telling inquiring teams.

Thats my standing on it too. Buyout is financially better.

.

That or maybe a reclamation type player (center ideally) with upside on a slightly cheaper cap hit. We’ve have some pretty good luck with a few of those in recent memory.

I got a hunch he’s going to Boston or St Louis

Fredric is an interesting option. Bs have a lot of centers and never really replaced Krug

A) he’d fit right in with those mass holes in Boston
B) we’d play him 8 times. Could be fun

If there really is interest and they can trade him for a player that helps today (center or left D), I’m fine with retained salary. What is the difference in savings? A million?

But if they retain salary for a winger or middling prospect...that’s a different story.

Isn't that what we're trying to dump?
No thanks.

After reading countless blogs for the past few days, you ARE the only person that seems to be “spot on” with your ADA assessment.

This is one DQ

First he moves the guy to play other side defense during pre-season, then embarrasses the guy by removing him without even a full game.

Then he sits the guy for 2 games for an unsportsmanlike in a meaningless lost game (further embarrassment)

Then removes the 4th leading D scorer from PP#1

And he expects the guy too be OK.

Well, that might work with Strome, KK, Howdie, Buch and a whole lotta eunuchs the Rangers have on the roster, but not fiery ADA

We lose a true talent, a gutsy player, a player that would fight for his teammates....all because Quinny needed to make a point.

All this while Strome and Howdie can’t even win a freakin faceoff
