Miller is 4th with 10 points in eight games and he's even, that top line hasn't been good defensively....until last game. - Pacificgem
Agreed.
The problem that I had noticed and not just that line, but with the team itself, is that when one player misses an assignment or is out of position in this system they play, the team gets into big trouble and starts to bleed quality shots against.
Everyone has to buy-in or sit in the press-box, pretty simple stuff.
Hard to believe McDavid has 22 points in eleven games and he's even on the plus/minus. He's so bad defensively, so it would appear.
I believe it's been documented that both Scotty Bowman and Bob Gainey had conversations with both Steve Yzerman and Mike Modano about the team not being able to win unless they change the way they played the game. To be more responsible defensively. - Pacificgem
I think the team is bad defensively rather than the player. If you put McDavid and Draisaitl on a team that had a proper 2nd line to play the hard matchups like Bo does, they'd probably have a significantly better record.
A better defensive corps would go a long way as well.

We need to stick one in Montreal's ear tonight - Pacificgem
That WPG win is a good builder to the next game and MTL's bubble will burst pretty soon. Flames shut them out last game hoping Holtby can do the same. Holtby knows he could lose the net to Demko anytime I'm expecting a big effort from him tonight.
There was a decent write-up by Cory Hergott, on Kole Lind, on a different site, including some discussion with Ryan Johnston on Kole. - Reubenkincade
Yeah I read those last night. Good to hear that JB wanted the kids to play and worked it out that the Van kids weren't going to out on loan and getting shafted.

It's definitely a combination of both but you can certainly have a top offensive guy who's poor defensively.
Draisaitl is +10 with 21 points, him Yamomoto and Kahun are playing well as a second line and they're responsible defensively. Yamomoto is +7 and Kahun is +5.

Whoops accidentally flagged you.
And McDavid is playing with who, Nuge and Pulujarvi? Not exactly guys known for their defensive skills. No doubt McDavid could be better on that side of things but ideally what you do with a player that good is pair him with someone who can cover it for him so he is allowed to roam and score 5 points a game. The Oilers just don't have the depth for that though.

With the way he can skate, one of the, if not the, fastest guys in the league, it's on him to be better defensively.
DeAngelo clears waivers and Chaison (Edm) put on waivers.
Seeing how this year is playing out I suggest keep away from waiver pick ups and keep away from trading for players.
I like the way the Canucks prospects are trending so no need to go dumpster diving . - VANTEL
He didn't get waived for his play, he got waived because he's locker room cancer. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play in the NHL for a long while.
The story about Kreider punching him in the face is funny though, I hope it's true

I heard a rumour this morning that Kreider punched him in the face after a game. Plus they have been trying to trade him for two years now and then they went out and signed him to a 2 year 4.8M deal. As if that was going to help them trade him. He's worth about 1.6M

Bieksa was just on SN calling him a piece of work. I still think Canucks will have one of the most well rounded teams once they get going.

Yeah the story is there was a misplay between DeAngelo and Geogiev that led to Crosby scoring the overtime goal. They were arguing on their way down the tunnel and Tony went at Geogiev at which point Kreider stepped in and clocked him
The guy is a moron, he was told by the team to stop posting on twitter because he's a huge Trump supporter and kept retweeting crazy conspiracy theories.
After Trump got removed from Twitter he said he was leaving the platform but then fans discovered he was still posting under the name "NYRFan92360244" arguing with people who were saying the team should trade him

I just listened to an Eliotte Friedman podcast about the situation, he's made several inquiries on what happened. To the best of his knowledge, De Angleo said something derogatory to the goaltender in the locker room and the goaltender punched him and they went at it.
On what happened Saturday night, leading up to the waiver placement:
"Saturday night, Rangers-Penguins. Ten seconds before the winning goal is scored, Georgiev and DeAngelo have a mixup, a miscommunication behind the net. Sidney Crosby gets in between them, and the Rangers players who are already on the ice for a while and noticeably exhausted can't get off. Crosby scores, and the Penguins win in overtime."
"They go off the ice, Georgiev is sitting, disappointed -- like any competitive person, especially a goaltender, would be after a game like that -- and DeAngelo walks by him and makes a sarcastic crack to him, and Georgiev clocks him. They go at it, and their teammates break it up. Later that night, the Rangers call DeAngelo [or his agent] and they say, 'That's the last straw. You're going on waivers tomorrow.' And then at noon ET [on Sunday], that's what happens."
