#Canucks fans may wonder why Demko isn’t starting vs #GoHabsGo.

It could be a variety of reasons (rest, schedule, etc.) but it could also be that Brayden Holtby’s record in that building is unreal.

In 12 career visits to Montreal, Holtby is 10-1-1 with 1.69 GAA.

There is no perfection situation and no matter how much they try, I doubt it's ever going to be.

I protect Myers over Schmidt, although I do think Schmidt is a good #5, he isn't as good as many claim he is.

Losing Myers in expansion would be great for the team in the long run, no question. His contract is a disaster and he is replaceable via free agency should that cap space be freed up.

There's no bad choice thats for sure. Both are playing solid now... but those numbers are hard to ignore.

Shut down TT and half the battle is won.

Anyway...who knows, but it is an option. I think the top four forwards are all worth protecting and then protect as many defenceman as you can along with Demko. There aren't many forwards that need protecting beyond Pettersson, Boeser, Miller and Horvat.

Some folks have trouble analyzing defensive play. But yes good point

Honestly, i'm making a trade with Vegas and having them take LE or someone else. Trade them OJ for Peanuts and they take LE. Or trade them LE and they can buy him out which as I just said cost them 4M but expose Virtanen or Gaudette.

I knew of that option before but it comes down to do you want to protect 10 players or 8 . I did not think anyone would even give it a second thought.

Overall, Myers has been fine when he reigns it in and stops trying to get in on the offence all the time. He's fine and a much needed right shot defender.

Benning isn't stupid, that's why he only gave up a 3rd for him in 2022.

The only thing that's going to fix the Canucks cap mess is time, something Jim Benning is going to run out of. The expansion draft isn't going to fix it for him.

I just checked, during the Vegas expansion draft seven teams used the 8 skater 1 goaltender list, so not as uncommon as you'd think.
