I found this interesting while reading this morning, NHL scoring really catapulted during the 80's & 90's, but defence wins Championships now
NHL players who hit 500 assists in decade, last 6:
60s: Mikita
70s: Clarke, Esposito, Dionne, Lafleur, Ratelle, Perreault
80s: Gretzky, Stastny, Coffey, Savard, Federko, Messier, Kurri, Bourque, Hawerchuk, Trottier, Smith, Francis
90s: Oates, Gretzky, Francis, Jagr, Sakic, Gilmour, Yzerman, Recchi, Bourque
00s: Thornton
10s: Giroux - Pacificgem
A decade is defined as any 10 year period, so you might be missing a few players. |

Backstrom also hit 500 in the 10s. 6 other players were at/over 450. Seems slightly misleading. - NorthNuck
Sedins did it in under 10 years, the framing of the time lines is disingenuous. |

A decade is a period of 10 years. The word is derived (via French and Latin) from the Ancient Greek: δεκάς, romanized: dekas, which means a group of ten. Decades may describe any ten-year period, such as those of a person's life, or refer to specific groupings of calendar years. |

You're right, Backstrom hit 521, for the record I didn't make the list. I don't find it misleading though, as 500 is the number, not 450. |

I didn't make the list, I said I read it online...
A decade, I'm assuming, for this exercise is as follows...which is a ten year period.

2012
2013
2014

2016

I almost put Miller there, he's been so bad at times with the turnovers... - Pres.cup
He looked so frustrated last night. I think he is getting a bit tired of a certain players playing style, and I don't mean Brock.
I noticed him give an evil stare to that player a couple times this season. |

Sedin
I don't believe Daniel had 500 in a ten year span . I think if you took his best 10 year stretch it is 464 assists .
Hank definitely did it in 10 years. |

I didn't mean the list I meant the notion that offense has gone down supported by cherry picked numbers |

He needs to look in the mirror and give himself that evil stare before he looks anyone else.
Personally, I wonder if watching his ex-teammates win a cup last season has given him added a degree of frustration this season. Maybe put a bit of a chip on his shoulder. |

I am sure he realizes he hasn't been that good, but if others give the stare, when someone makes a mistake, then that person should receive it back.
Let's be honest here, neither Miller, nor Hughes, nor Pouty have played very well this season. |

I’d argue they are giving Van way too much respect |

If they don't they are in trouble. Last night was an embarrassment. I think they will play better too. They may not win but if they come out and play that sloppy again then it shows what level the pride is at.

Pretty respectable for Demko only letting in 5 goals in 40+ shots. |

Yup. If they are as embarrassing as last night, Benning only has one option. IMO. |

Winning back to back is tough to do, and while the Canucks might not be cup contenders, they also aren’t the Sens. Kids will come through with 5 tonight, if Demko is on I guarantee a win. |

Regretfully I expect a similar result tonight. They're getting outworked, which should be a big concern.
