Warmed up with My Chem - Honey, this mirror isn't big enough for the two of us, and Vampires would never hurt you. Mostly because my 12 year old Daughter is trying to learn the Bass and wants me to learn them.
Then, Ozzy - Over the Mountain, Flying High, and Believer. For a couple of really good guitar players I jam with a couple of times a month.
Break time for a drink, catch my breath, and to check in here.
Up next, Tool - Stinkfist, Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy Name and Number of the Beast. For the aforementioned guitarists. I don't really have to practice the rest of the stuff we jam. It's a lot of cheezy Priest and AC/DC. Some originals.
After this I sometimes mix in some bands I enjoy listening to or Drummers I like randomly.
Then some free drumming for myself. I'm a pretty sweaty mess by the end of it.
Usually takes 45 minutes to a bit over an hour. - Load Management
My Wife was raised a devout wino, with her parents having a decent sized cellar. I can't drink more than a couple of small glasses before passing out, so I'll occasionally nip a glass off what she brings home. Maybe I'll hit the Palm Bays instead.
Slow cooked stew tonight that I've been cooking overnight. I'll take that over pizza. Maybe Vintsy has a pairing for that. - Load Management
Smirnoff Ice and slow cooker stew is pretty classic

It's funny reading these posts from people. Quinn easily >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gillis. Gillis didn't build anything, he redecorated. He didn't turn AV into a great coach, he kept him on after taking over and AV did the rest. Gillis got destroyed on more deals than he won. The Burrows contract was done after one good year with the twins, and multiple years of being a 3rd liner. He signed for the going rate at the time. Again, Miller trade easily trumps Erholf. Luongo was a really good abuse of a system that caused the league to punish him for it. He gets ZERO credit for Hamhuis, that signing wasn't because of a winning team, it was because he wanted to come home. If you take a look at our standings, we already had a winning culture before he took over. Only missing twice in the 8 years prior to Gillis coming on and finishing 1st and 2nd in the division most of it.
Gillis was good with the cap, was decent at trading and terrible at drafting. He didn't create anything in Vancouver while he was here.
On the flip side, JB is good at drafting, decent with trades and bad with the cap.
We need someone who is good at all 3 aspects of being a GM, not just one. - Retinalz
Miller had one good season and is sinking the first line, Erhoff was the better trade.
Zero credit? JB would have signed him to an 8x8 with the NMC!
JB is worse at cap management then MG was at drafting, look at LE,Sven, Roussel, Beagle, Myers,JV et al, contrast that with drafting Horvat and LB, the first and only top ten picks of his tenure, contrast that with JBs first two top 5 picks, JV and OJ. Sorry but gilles wins on that round to.
We don't need a drafter now, we need someone to fix the cap and surround the existing core, that's gilles specialty, if you took off the rose colored glasses you'd see that JB needs to turn into MG.

We always need a drafter. Young kids keep aging cores relevant. That's funny about the 8x8 comment. I think the worst case scenerio would be another GM giving Hammer an extra year, and/or 500k. As I said, Gillis was good with the Cap. Erholf was not nearly as good a trade as Miller. if 10 pts in 8 games is sinking a line, damn do you ever have a weird idea of what a good player is. EP is the one having a down year. Personally he should be moved to Bo's wing. JB and MG have their strengths(drafting vs cap) and neither is terribly good at winning trades. Benning has more success late in the 1st than Gillis and even has more success in the second round and beyond than Gillis does late 1st.
JV pick was based off the list of the previous regime, so it is as close to a Gillis pick as a Benning, though I personally think it was an FA pick(home town kid to sell to the fans). Take out that and you have OJ and then EP
Take off the rose colored glasses and see that Gillis is not the answer, and neither is Benning.
Our young core deserves better than both of them.

Agree.
Hughes has been having a pretty bad year as well, regardless of his points totals.

Hughes is more of a sophomore slump type issue IMO. Though he really needs to improve in his own end. I don't understand why our top 6 doesn't look like

Hughes' defensive situation reminds me of when Sutter was brought in and supposed to shield Horvat during his sophomore year, but missed 60+ games with injury and Horvat got buried. I'd like to think Schmidt's the answer but I also think its up to Green to help protect the match ups a bit better too

I hope you're catching the winks but I'm going to continue cause it's fun.
OK, let's delete one the first to ten pick, LB and JV, leaving Horvat and OJ
Horvat at 10 is easy, way better then OJ at 5.
Gilles is a better top 10 drafter.
For the sake of this argument I'm going to ignore later picks and strictly focus on first top 10 picks. Gilles was a better drafter and at creating a winning culture.
JB has the same amount of time in the GM seat and has not created a winning culture.
Gilles brought in winning leadership like Malhotra whilst Jimmy brought in Beagle.
MM is far superior then Beagle at every aspect of the game, was paid less money on shorter term.
Gilles is better at creating depth leadership.
Schmidt vs Erhoff, robbing cap strapped teams.
Erhoff for white vs Schmidt for a 3rd.
A third is worth more then white was. Erhoff was on a shorter chapter contract. I like Schmidt but he's a left handed shot when the team needed a right hand shot.
Erhoff created more offense and was a better defender then Schmidt.
Gilles is better at trades, filling organizational voids and bettering the team.
In 7 years the Canucks have one playoff round win and a cap issue under JB.
In 7 years gilles has 2 presidents trophies, a final appearance, an executive of the year award and left a team that won the division the year after he was fired.
JBs only division title comes with a team he inherited from gilles, he has no awards, no winning culture, the team is saddled with bad contracts and the only things good he's done is be so bad that the team drafted high, but not too high as he kept trying for the playoffs. He has never traded a player for a high pick.
The only thing jb is better at is mid to late round drafting. He should not be a GM, gilles should be.
