He's as guilty as they are on most nights. He turns the puck over all the time trying to be too fancy. I actually see him trying to do too much. Maybe that's because of the poor play of the other two?

I mentioned the other day that the systems appear to be,pass the puck into the middle of the ice, basically keeping it away from the boards, which has cost many of these turnovers.
Even in the defensive zone, it is just about always into the middle, never-mind the cute little pass between the legs, defenders are doing to get the puck away from the boards.
They just don't have the players that can win enough of these board battles and it is costing themwith many, many turnovers as teams quickly catch on to tendency like that.

By not resigning TT what has been the damage to team moral? It seems that players are unhappy with management. So much so they’ve spoken out to the media about it. Many, many people in here talk about building a winning environment. Looks like the players don’t feel coaches and management are doing their part and it’s effecting their play.
- bloatedmosquito

When I spoke to Sutter in the off-season he said losing Marky was the big one wasn't too concerned about too much else. Obviously the team relies so heavy on Goaltending they just need to learn a little team defence and is Green the guy to do it lol

They have also played 13 games in 21 nights with 3 back/backs and two road trips. That is not close to a normal year. It is hard to say what is going on because it is a very unusual year.

You can't use the excuse of the schedule for their fails but you can't turn around and use it to take away the positives also.

- VANTEL

Wasn't trying to, I think being around top-10 in GF is actually a good thing. If I was, I would've said something like they've averaged 5.33 goals per game against Ottawa, and 2.9 vs everyone else... but like you say you've got to play with the cards you're dealt. At the end of the year all else should average out and they'll be in the standings where they deserve to be

If they aren't committed tonight, the Leafs will eat them alive with their firepower. I'm afraid to watch, could be painful
- Pacificgem

Leafs are soft and whiny too so I don't know...look for a big Hogs effort tonight. Horvat too guy has been invisible.

You don't need guys to be good along the boards as long as they are good in the room.

I didn't really want TT back but was kind of baffled after JB let Marky, Tanev and Leivo walk. With Pods and Hogs coming and Hogs emerging it didn't make a whole lot of sense to lock TT into a 4 year deal when we were winning in the PO's without him. Is what it is. He doesn't appear to be doing much vs other clubs than the Canucks lol
- LordHumungous

My comments on Marky and Tanev. We won nothing with them on the team in the past so I am not sure how that was going to change by bringing them back long term. Judging by Calgary's record so far it does not look like they are going to be winning the cup anytime soon either.

Leivo was a huge risk for bottom 6 player. He had the big injury and even if healthy he would have been one of my last signings if I did not have a full team.

Toffoli I would rank as a 7 out of 10 player. Definitely above average and if he wanted to sign two years sure sign him. He wanted longer and deserved longer and unfortunately not with the Canucks.

This year Canucks will have freed up enough money to go after a player that is a 9 of 10 . So as painful as today is I am glad they waited.

Exactly. I hated this North Division and the schedule before it started but I am glad hockey is back so I need to accept the good with the bad or bad with the good.

Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand are just killer draft picks, man alive, Bergeron is 35 years old and he's third in NHL scoring, the guy just keeps producing year after year.....God I hate the Bruins

They are, the process hasn't been good, but getting better with each game, but their coaching is so good and they're getting timely goals which is helping them collect points.

Correct. Circling the drain with Marky, Tanev Leivo TT would have accomplished nothing for the long term. I want Edler gone too before we can truly get that D back to respectability. Marky I was ok with at 4 X 5.5 but not at 6X6.

I actually like the baseball-style schedule and wouldn't mind seeing it play out in a post-pandemic world, but I think the division-only play really makes it tough to look at the standings and assess a team's worth. The North Division is definitely one of the tougher divisions along with the East, in my view

The sad thing is, only 2 of 4 lines are good along the boards, Bo's line and the 3rd line of Beagle, Motte and whoever.
The 4th line of Sutter Gaudette, Jake etc are pretty bad and Miller is the only one who can consistently win board battles on the top offensive line.

This team needs more horses, not ponies.

I wasn't okay with Marky at 4 years or even two at 5 mil . We would lose Demko who I think is showing he is at the doorstep to being out longtime goalie.

Markstrom is a risk . He has had three groin injuries in a short time frame . He also still has that habit of letting in early goals.

I liked the guy and wish him well in CGY.

I don't lol. Team invested 5 years bringing his career back from the Brink and he leaves for 6X6 when JB offered 4X5.5...he can go (frank) himself lol for the extra $500K

I don't mind the occasional back to back against the same team but I would not like it every series. I don't like the three game series. Even against Ottawa I was bored by game three.

You're 100% correct, the Canucks have scored, to date, 45 GF which is #1 in the NHL. Sure a bunch of them came against Ottawa but they're not having trouble scoring, sans the first three games.

Toffoli would make little to no difference in the win / lose department. Its the 48 goals against, worst in the league, that's killing them.

If the players are pouting because Benning didn't re-sign him, they can (frank) off because there's no crying in the National Hockey League!
