But that was one of the dozen Cup celebrations that Ek was on the ice for. Sakic passed Ek the cup for a lap around the arena.

AVS won the Cup for Ek. They were going to retire his jersey but they chose Bourque instead.

I remember one time I went to LA for a concert. The year was 1996. I remember it vividly because it was the final concert before Elvis died. I still have the concert program that I bought. I sat in the 3rd row right on the aisle and had a perfect view of Elvis. The opening act was Justin Bieber. I actually met Justin back stage that night in 1996 because I went to school with his sister who worked for the Vegas Golden Knights back then. I took some great videos with my iPhone and made a TikTok video. Such great memories. David Poile and Ryan Sittler went with me.

I once went to a Penguins game. I saw so many legendary Penguins players. Lemieux. Jagr. Francis. A young Richard Park. But I also remember seeing Doug Harvey, Gordie Howe, Eddie Shore and Ryan Sittler. It was weird. Like a Field of Dreams NHL version. Young David Poile was there with Doc and Marty. James Earl Jones kept looking for Moonlight Graham and why did Tom Barrasso keep telling me to ease his pain?

This entire post is garbage. Elvis died in 1996? Where are you getting your news from, the Babylon Bee? Elvis is still alive and he plays goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets. As a matter of fact, a young Mike Lange used to famously quip, "Elvis has just left the building." Now how can he be leaving buildings if he's been dead for 25 years, smart guy?

Phil Bourque was a hell of a player, he deserves it.

kuemper is no up grade over Andersen. Both have played well in the regular season but have seen little success in the postseason. Kuemper being an upgrade over Freddie is pure speculation

While back-up goalies are valuable I do not see many teams interested in spending 4.5 million on Keumper. Teams interested in Keumper are likely limited to the few teams completely void of NHL level goaltending, such as Edmonton or Buffalo, who may see Keumper as a stop-gap starter. However, as such teams are not competitive, it would seem unwise for them to waste resources on mediocre netminding improvement.

A former Coyotes writer hyped Kuemper as the greatest goalie in the NHL. I argued he was a solid starter, but also benefitted from a low-event defensive system in Arizona. Meanwhile Freddie Anderson played for a more offensive-driven system. If they switched places people would consider Anderson for the Vezina, while poor Kuemper would be the scapegoat in Toronto. Would love to see this trade and be proven correct.

Gagner took David Poile's time machine back to 1991. He'll be playing with his dad (Dave) tonight in the SCF vs Mario and the Pens. That damn Ryan Sittler keeps appearing no matter which year it is. He's the Mustard Tiger. Sittler went on to become a big star in Trailer Park Boys and renamed himself Philadelphia Collins. He was last seen screaming Baaaaaaaasaaaammmmm!!!!!

I think you misremember. I was at that game also, they were playing in Bern, Siwtzerland against the home team, HC Basel, led by Mike Gartner and Evgeni Malkin, just before he was traded to Nashville. I pulled the Richard in the popcorn trick on Shania Twain that night and we just laughed and laughed and laughed. Then I dumped her the next night.

Randy wins because he has a low center of gravity and there is only a thin layer of gabardine separating you from his junk.

Ah yes. Gartner and Malkin hated each other. Gartner was the Man and Malkin wanted to be the Man. But even though he was 65 years old, Mike Gartner was too fast for young Malkin.

Shania made Ek promise to never give her a 1 year hockey buzz season ticket. Ek agreed and had lunch with Gary Bettman at the NHL European League office in Bern, Switzerland. He met a young Roger Federer. But he ignored him as well.

Then he went skiing with Martina Hingis. Ek wore his Google glasses he had during his 13 Stanley Cup celebrations. The dial up internet cut out and he crashed into the Alps. But Ek survived and the rest is hockey buzz history.

Randy wanted a store bought cheeseburger but Leahy made him a bluejay burger instead. That made Randy angry. Angrier than a Leafs fan looking at the Habs place in the division.

One of my favourite memories was meeting Edgar Allan Poe. I remember this vividly because it was Gretzky's final game. I sat with Ryan Sittler and Edgar Allan Poe happened to be right in front of us. Jimmy Howard got the shutout that night. I was always disappointed that Gretzky got shut out on his last game. The winning goal was a beautiful shot by JVR. I went on the ice during Wayne's farewell lap. Shania tied my skates.

Great memories indeed. I'll always remember being with Ryan Sittler when he was dating Ek's sister. Her best friend was Marilyn Monroe. I had such a crush on her but I turned her down. I'd already promised Foxy Cleopatra a date.

Anyway we watched the Red Wings beat the Habs to win the Cup in 1955. Habs really missed The Rocket and they had no answer for Peter Klima or Brett Lebda. Chris Osgood outplayed Jacques Plante and Dave Lewis outcoached Toe Blake.

Wasn't Ek's sister Sittler's sitter Shania? Or maybe young Sittler was sat by sitter Stanley.

Anyway this reminds me of another amusing anecdote. One night at the igloo we saw Zarley Zalapski zig zag around Rod Zaine. Unbelievable skater. Faster than the rocket. The artillery, not Richard.

Ek's sister's sitter was Dolly Parton. She worked 9 to 5. While Zarley Zalapski and Ziggy Palffy were getting Ziggy wit it zig zagging to Ziggy Stardust music, Ek was texting tactfully with Tony Twist to Tanya Tucker music when power forward Mike Hoffman signed a PTO with the Blues. Like 2 sparrows in a Carolina Hurricane.
