I was really looking forward to this season too after 10 months of no Red Wings hockey. Now I just want the season to end and look forward to seeing us getting screwed in the draft lottery again.

That was my question too. The only advantage of waiting is being able to assign him to taxi squad without waiving again.

This team is god awful to watch so badly coached it’s disgusting.What weird spell does blashill have over this team. Getting rid of blashill and giving the job to Dan blasmya is a bad idea this team has stopped playing for these coaches plus he also loses where ever he has coached unless Crosby and staff bailed him out. Hire Gerard Gallant and watch the excitement it would bring to this team

A dual purpose Dman. I love it. I honestly hope Yzerman does the rounds to check on the guys. Yzerman saw some tough times (and also ended them) in Detroit. Somewhere along the line he’s been on both ends of those conversations and that will be invaluable

I really wonder what he's saying/doing to help ease the player's pain....Anyone who's been through hell (RYAN...SIGN HIM LONG TERM!!!!), can give insight into dealing with the struggle. I remember The Captain as a kid (good Buffett song, btw...), and the hope he brought, the struggle he had, the Larkin-ish behaviours he brought (goals on top of goals, etc...). I also remember the COACHING CHANGE that gave The Captain the knowledge/confidence to pass the biscuit and share the wealth...and the coaching philosophy change that came with A NEW COACH.....

At what point does the Yzerplan start to show visible/tangible results?

In Tampa, Yzerman had the benefit of Stamkos and Hedman waiting for him - both just shy of their primes. That helped things along a bit. Without that benefit in Detroit (no offense to Larkin), how much longer does it take to start coming together?

Part of it is definitely goaltending. Tampa had MSL, Stamkos, Hedman, and Lecavalier, but they still stunk up the ice....why? SMELLIS. Remember the Smith and Ellis tandem from hell? Having elite skaters in front of a dumpster-fire goalie is a waste of elite talent. It wasn't until ancient Roloson came in to provide consistent league-average goaltending, did the Lightning see any glimpses of their potential.

Bishop was a gamechanger and made the Lightning contenders. Detroit desperately needs a Bishop type goalie to shore up the net and restore some confidence.

I thought that if we singed someone off of waivers, they had to be on the team for 30 days before we could assign to the TS or AHL......

Gallant might not even want to come here. He's likely waiting for a Cup contender to take over. Lane Lambert could be our next Head coach if Yzerman ever fires idiot Blashill. Lane is assisting Trotz on the Island. He and Stevie came up together with the Red Wings. Gallant played on Stevie's wing for years.

Believe they played together for a couple of years in Stevie's early days......Gallant was a beast in his playing days. Guy could shoot & punch with the very best. He took on Tiger Williams one night....THAT was an epic fight. Watched it on the b&w TV in my grandmother's bedroom with Bruce Martin & Sid Able calling the game.....I love me some Gallant....
