Scratching the brain dead Laughton should be automatic. This guy shows flashes of brilliance and then goes on to do something stupid almost every game for years now. I love my Flyers but really this is one guy I despise most of the time. The dumb penalties should be on the coach and the players involved have to learn or be shipped out. This is a game that ruined great games by Hart, Sanheim, JVR was strong and Jake was good too. So frustrating watching same old. - joegreif17
Scratching Laughton would be stupid. Saying he does something stupid almost every game for years is the epitome of hyperbole. He's a key player for this team. |

Yesterday, you all mentioned line possibilities when Coots comes back from injury. If everyone is healthy, this is my preference:
Lindblom-Couturier-Giroux
TK-Hayes-Voracek
JVR-Patrick-Farabee
Laughton-Bunnaman-Raffl
NAK wouldn’t be the guy out if he was playing an all-around game that he showed last season. He is taking far too many penalties for his average ice time, and he isn’t shooting the puck.
I think Lindblom is starting to come around, and putting him back with Coots might get him going. |

Clearly the Flyers aren't as good this year without Niskanen and Coots on the ice. I don't see much of an upside to Gus. Our #1 center will be back soon. Is there a D man available to help settle that group? Should they insert Prosser into the mix? All I can say is that losing like that is very painful.

Giroux and Lindblom can play either. It’s a toss up.
I think TK can switch; he needs to shoot and be involved in creating opportunities or he becomes invisible or a liability on defense. |

No it's not a toss up. Giroux does not play the right side. He only plays LW. Lindblom could move but he is predominantly a LW. Konecny only plays the right side. |

Giroux has played well throughout his career at RW, Center and then LW. You could say that he only plays left on the PP (forgetting that horrible experiment on the right).
TK doesn’t look good now and more ice time won’t help. Much like when Giroux was moved to left wing, with TK you won’t know until you try it.

People need to really pump the breaks with Lindblom, I do not want him anywhere near the top 6 at the moment. |

saw this rumor:
According to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now, a possible deal involving Gostisbehere and Yandle was on the table but Yandle simply refused to waive his no movement clause. |

I said it earlier. I don't expect Lindblom to get back to where he was until next season. I hope I'm wrong and it happens sooner but he needs some time.

Guy who are consistently physical and competitive will get nailed for penalties. Just like a guy who's consistently playmaking will have their share of turnovers. It's par for the course.
I'd scratch TK again or Patrick before I'd take NAK out of the lineup right now. If I were to compile a list of guys who were passengers right now, NAK wouldn't be on it. |

Other than the penalties, I don't think NAK deserves to sit but if and when Couturier comes back, he's the odd man out. Fletcher was just recently praising Patrick's all around play. He's not coming out and neither should one of the teams top offensive players in Konecny.

Small sample years ago. Since he was moved off of center, he has only played at LW and you know this.

His entire midget and junior career was as a RW'er. He played his time in minors as a RW'er. He didn't get converted to C until a couple seasons into his NHL career. And he didn't end up on the LW until he was in his 30's.
Suffice to say, he's capable of playing RW. |

We were also deeper at rw when this was facilitated. |

Let me think about it; maybe address the issue and cut your loses. Hagg and Gus both fn stink. Braun isnt much better though I rather have him over the other 2 stiffs.
Stop giving the coach an option to play them. - login

How do you propose to cut losses? Terminate contracts, demoted, what - Peter Richards
Well Peter Dikk you are a very knowledgeable poster. I think you can figure out a way if you put your mind to it.
Don't think they can just terminate the contract so that isn't an option. |

Giroux has played a spot game at RW here and there in recent years also. I think one of the main reasons they choose to try him on LW was the composition of the roster depth at RW at the time plus he played the left on the PP. He can definitely play RW. They just haven’t needed him to do it on a regular basis since his professional start.
So do you know what position(s) TK played in junior?

Lest we forget that NAK was the best skater on the ice last night for the Flyers. Physical, made a lot of smart plays with and without the puck, legs always churning. - Tomahawk
I don't disagree. His dumb penalties are the issue. |

We can’t afford the pace at which NAK is taking penalties. Some are expected, yeah.
TK might very well be scratch again if he continues as is.
I think Lindblom and Patrick are starting to turn a corner and I hope I am right on that, but I think it was expected that they would take more time. |
