Announcers last night-
Pasta gets a fortunate bounce off of Provorov = 'OMG PASTA SO GOOD'
JVR -> Voracek makes a tough play out of his skates = 'Boston complete breakdown'
I'm not a fan of Mike Tirico for hockey.

Center - Tomahawk
I know I will be shredded for this but...I have often thought that when TK is playing with Hayes that TK should be playing center and Hayes who wins more one on one battles and protects the puck well should be on wing. Also, with TKs speed, I feel he has the potential to be better getting back on defense. Hayes could still take his strong side FO draws.

His entire midget and junior career was as a RW'er. He played his time in minors as a RW'er. He didn't get converted to C until a couple seasons into his NHL career. And he didn't end up on the LW until he was in his 30's.
Suffice to say, he's capable of playing RW. - Tomahawk
That's over a decade ago. Giroux since moving from center has only played LW. He has a preference for LW. Again, you know this. If he's not going to play center, he is a LW.

Giroux has played a spot game at RW here and there in recent years also. I think one of the main reasons they choose to try him on LW was the composition of the roster depth at RW at the time plus he played the left on the PP. He can definitely play RW. They just haven’t needed him to do it on a regular basis since his professional start.
So do you know what position(s) TK played in junior? - NC Flyers Fan
The main reason for choosing LW is that Giroux wanted to play the left side.

Well Peter Dikk you are a very knowledgeable poster. I think you can figure out a way if you put your mind to it.
Don't think they can just terminate the contract so that isn't an option. - login
There are ways to do so but you are correct. It’s not like the NFL |

I think I’d try JVR on RW there honestly. Or Jake. |

I love what I’m seeing from JVR with Farabee. With Jake, I think they need to keep the lines balanced.

Yesterday, you all mentioned line possibilities when Coots comes back from injury. If everyone is healthy, this is my preference:
Lindblom-Couturier-Giroux
TK-Hayes-Voracek
JVR-Patrick-Farabee
Laughton-Bunnaman-Raffl
NAK wouldn’t be the guy out if he was playing an all-around game that he showed last season. He is taking far too many penalties for his average ice time, and he isn’t shooting the puck.
I think Lindblom is starting to come around, and putting him back with Coots might get him going. - NC Flyers Fan
The guy I would consider scratching if we could scratch a guy is Lindblom. Not out of anger, we know what he’s been through. It’s more so because he’s been soft. He might need a push. He’s in the top six and doing nothing. |

Agree on Farabee and JVR. I do think Jake and Hayes have flashed some solid chemistry too so far this season. |

It would be silly to scratch Laughton. - MJL
Why would it be silly to bench Laughton for a game, he made a dumb decision at the end of the game that essentially cost his team a chance to win a game in OT. It was selfish and he needs to now this will not be tolerated. The Coach had him out there to preserve the tie in regulation and he made a bad decision. 1 game is not going to cost this team anything and will hopefully send a message to everyone, dumb selfish plays will have consequences. |

Last night, Lindblom was driving to the net. I think he is coming around. I would definitely give it a few more games.

I'm sorry but I disagree. I'm not giving him a pass for last night but he is an integral part of this team and vastly underrated in terms of his importance. |

According to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now, a possible deal involving Gostisbehere and Yandle was on the table but Yandle simply refused to waive his no movement clause. - arichardson22

With healthy lineup he is your 4th line center. Not a key player on the team.
Remove him from the lineup and you will see no significant diff in the results.

I never understood the rationale for this trade from the Flyers standpoint. Trade Ghost for a guy 7 years older and WAY past his prime, $1,950,000 more on the cap over the same period of time when you will need that cap room, plus having the expansion draft coming up. It makes no sense.

Yes exactly. The coach had him out there to preserve a tie. The coach trusts him. He plays in key situations for this team. He plays with pace and intensity every game. He made a bad decision and took a bad penalty. Learn from it. He does not deserve to be scratched in my opinion.

I’d say my overall complain comes from the approach to these games, heading in. They never look prepared and regardless of the outcome, they look like the weaker team. Boston would use two guys to smother one of our guys off the puck legally. So out of the gate, physicality is an issue but it’s boys against men when we face Boston or Washington.
I think what hurt us was scratching Konency against the Islanders. We had great balanced lines prior and than in game 2, Vigneault doesn’t come back with the same set up. Do you all think Lindblom needs more ice time, on a scoring line, while JvR is hot? - SuperSchennBros
Lindblom had a few chances last night and didn't bury them. So did TK for that matter. Its been a problem on this team. On the plus side Farabee looks like he has a shot and is not afraid to use it. He is someone I would try to get more PP or o-zone time.

In the past you are right but not this year, this year refs have been calling *everything*, not matter how harmless. It reminds me of when the NHL came out of the lockout in I think 2004 and wanted to open up the game by getting rid of the clutching and grabbing that won the Devils a few cups. It seems like there is a similar mandate going on right now.
But I feel with all this talk about refs, we are letting the Flyers players off the hook for an absolutely unacceptable break-down. They stopped playing at a time that most teams would turn it up and close it out. This the real problem we should be discussing! - jd250
I don't want to let them off the hook but they clearly did not make calls against the Bruins. I think it was because they were down not because it was the flyers. The refs made themselves part of the game. Championship teams fight through that...

I agree, I would not bench him either. He made a bad decision and the PK didn't bail him out, nor did they bail out Hayes. WIth the Bruins net empty near the end of the game, I would have liked the Flyers to be more aggressive in trying to score a goal. They were too passive IMO in that moment.

Ghost makes mistakes, all D do. But Ghost breaks the puck out as well as any of the D, he is better suited for 2nd or 3rd pair. Gus, he is still a disaster, lining Braun up against Boston's top line is asking for trouble |
