Yea, I agree. As one poster said, they called 2 penalties in 50 minutes. In 10 minutes they called 4. It's not having a feel for the flow of the game. Call it evenly. Although not as blatant and not the same game, the Islanders and some other teams interfere on forechecker all game long and it's never called. Laughton committed a penalty, no doubt but in that situation with just seconds left, unless it takes away a legit scoring chance, swallow the whistle. Let them go to OT and let the players decide the game.

exactly, they became part of the game, no refs wants that

the real tell will be Friday, play well earn 2 in regulation and the process of getting better will continue. Again, the Bruins needed the Flyers and the refs help last night to win, the Flyers played well and deserved to win, all without their best player. If one of their top 3 were out, would they have won? Maybe but maybe not. Get 2 Friday

Scoring goals has not been the issue for this team. They are a top 10 scoring team in the NHL. That's the biggest reason why they've been winning. Keeping the puck out of the net is the issue.

Are you now off the fence on Farabee?

- MJL

Nope, still on the fence, but he is gaining momentum! Its one thing to score goals, its another thing to score timely goals, and you win games by scoring timely goals. For example, and I think people forget this, the Flyers had a late 3rd period PP and did nothing with it. The Bruins pulled their goalie and the Flyers had puck possession but didn't even try to score a goal to ice the game.

I mentioned this last night. Really needed more determination to score there.

Edit: Also, just get off the fence already! Joel is a keeper.

I can't get off the fence on Joel too early, otherwise MJL will tell me that I once again flip-flipped or recanted, or whatever he will accuse me of next

Should probably try to sell high on JVR. Especially if he could somehow be involved in a deal that would bring back a top 4 RH Dman. Even if that type of return is still out of the question, there's still value in getting out of having to pay him $7M per for the next two seasons after this one IMO.
When Couts gets back, move Laughton back to LW where he belongs and roll with Couts, Hayes, NoPa, & Bunnaman down the middle.

- Big_E_88

If there was an easy move to get out from under his contract, I'm sure Fletch would have done it already.

The kind of RHD you'd get for JVR would be something like Seabrook.

Yesterday, you all mentioned line possibilities when Coots comes back from injury. If everyone is healthy, this is my preference:

Lindblom-Couturier-Giroux
TK-Hayes-Voracek
JVR-Patrick-Farabee
Laughton-Bunnaman-Raffl

NAK wouldn’t be the guy out if he was playing an all-around game that he showed last season. He is taking far too many penalties for his average ice time, and he isn’t shooting the puck.

I think Lindblom is starting to come around, and putting him back with Coots might get him going.

- NC Flyers Fan

Thanks. I was asking for what others thought. People just listed who to play with coots.

Lines is plural.

Kuraly was about to blow by him and would have likely had a play towards the net. That’s a penalty every time.
- Mahewman

It wouldn't have been a quality chance. They should've swallowed the whistle there.

You seriously crack me up. Farabee has 1 GWG and I would call his goal in the 3rd period against a top team a timely goal. Perhaps you don't know what a timely goal is. What does that late 3rd period PP have to do with your opinion on Farabee? It's more poorly thought out comments.

I'm reminded of comments Chuck Fletcher made towards the end of last season. He said to paraphrase, "I bet Farabee doesn't have 8 goals late next season". Here Farabee sits with 6 goals in 11 games. Myself and Chuck Fletcher know what you don't and see what you're not capable of seeing. This kid is a player. He's going to be a 30 goal scorer in this league, if not more. As well as playing solid all around.

I don't accuse you of anything. I simply comment on the statements that you make. Stop giving me so much easy ammo to work with. Its really just a question of hockey knowledge.

Team negative has seemed almost too subdued this season to be...makes me a little nervous tbh.

Did you ever check your PM (private messages)?

- NC Flyers Fan

I just found out that I even have messages and it took me several minutes to figure out how to find them. Lol. Bit oli found them and I think I replied correctly. Thank you very much for the help! Man... I appreciate that so much!

Let's not carried away with JVR. We know he's notoriously streaky. I hope he can keep this up for an entire season and finally meet his career potential, but I think we're all waiting for the other shoe to drop with him.
- Tomahawk

His scoring has been streaky all through his career but he has never back checked or used his body or played both ends the way he has this year. It started to manifest the second half of last season but he is a man on a mission this year. I am with you on the streaky scoring aspect but it's more than that this season. Let's hope he keeps it up

Myers is a good player now who has had some really good moments this season so far. The coach is giving him a bigger bite but he has also struggled. He struggled last night on the PK. It's part of the process. He's getting there but not there yet.
- MJL

You're absolutely right about his ups and downs but I can really see his ups more consistently now. And you're right again about the learning curve and the process but man is it exciting to see! I don't think I've ever seen homegrown defense before and knowing he is just scratching the surface of his peak is exciting. I can't believe this kid went undrafted, tbh.

Man you're right! Team negative has been oddly silent but you know they are waiting to pounce. You can feel it in the air.
When our boys finally put it all together I don't think we will see some of these posters too often

It’s definitely is!
This team is swimming with talent. They just need to learn how to keep their composure and stay calm when opponents are pressing. Niskinen was good for this.

- pucks4all

Losing nisky was a huge blow but fletchers hands are kind of ties with the flat cap and nobody being able to or willing to take salary. I'm not upset with him because he seems like a smart man and he probably kicked tires on every option he had but man that hurt to lose nisky.
They will put it all together soon. Hopefully CF can pull some magic and find a decent dman so we can sit a couple of the terds on the pine

Yeah jvr is on fire. Myers and possible zamula are great finds.

Also I don’t consider Morin a bust just due to the injuries. Imo he would be a nhl d man had that not happened once but twice. He had the tools. Could be worse.....yakupov lol

People need to really pump the breaks with Lindblom, I do not want him anywhere near the top 6 at the moment.
- ClaudeFather

Agree. Glad he is healthy but he needs time to return to form. Reminds me so far of his first year. Once his gold locks return so will his power. Maybe playing with coots will help but yeah. Maybe spot Joel or raf in a few shifts if need be if he is playing up.

He absolutely had the potential to be a monster on the blue line but I injuries got him. Bite unfortunate bc we could use a sasquatch like that keeping our crease clean and clear. So many what ifs for that young man
My comment was because morin is what he is now so getting myers made his loss of potential not hurt as much.
Zamula is another to keep an eye on! He is scrawny still but his potential and IQ is incredible.
I think wisdom is going to be a sneaky good pick as well. Keep an eye on him. We are missing someone like that in our line up

Anyone have any phantoms updates and how there camp is going? How about the long lost prospect Adam Ginning and his progress; or lack there of. Thanks in advance fellow flyer fans.

You seriously crack me up because you don't know what the hell you are talking about! So now you and Chuck Fletcher are having conversations .. what you visit his house over the summer to mow his lawn too? You are so hell bent on finding fault with what people post that you cannot even follow a simple post or conversation. My point about timely goals had nothing to do with Farabee. I made one statement on Farabee basically meant to give him praise, and the rest of my post was about chances the Flyers had to ice the game and didn't, two mutually exclusive topics. Sorry, I will go slower for you next time.

I never said I didn't like Farabee, however unlike you I am not going to anoint a 19 year kid as the future Ovechkin in the organization until I see him do something more than score 8 goals in a season. I don't have the luxury of seeing Farabee every day in practice like Fletcher, and apparently you do, so it takes me longer to have an opinion on a kid.

Yes that is my post and I stand by it .. right now IMO this team SUCKS! It doesn't mean that next week or the week after I will think the same thing ... but its what I feel right now. I wish Giroux and that so-called Flyers leadership was as angry as I was last night ... but according to them it was just a "little frustrating"!
