Insanity, the mistakes may be repeating themselves... - Pres.cup
This fanbase flipped out even when Stecher walked. They b1tched that 1.7 was easy to sign. Benning said Chatfield is a good player and the fan base laughed at his insanity.
Chatfield is one million cheaper and and is having a better year than Stecher.
Benning has said twice now Podkolzin is an NHL player and he will more than likely be playing on Bo's line. I have seen enough of VP and I believe he will play on Bo's line.
Canucks have young players ready to jump in so signing players long term does not make sense.
This fan base wants draft picks but does not want to play them. I seen right here poster after poster saying don't sign Markstrom Toffoli or Tanev . They didn't and now the GM is incompetent . You really can't win.

In fairness, the Canucks actually really can’t win.
No one’s blameless. Benning has made mistakes. Green is making mistakes. The players can’t stop making mistakes.
I don’t think anyone expected this team to be cup contenders. My biggest issue is that they are failing at their most basic mandate, entertainment. This team is bloody hard to watch right now.

Benning seems loath to get rid of any player until they've lost all value. Sutter, Beagle, Roussel, Benn or Gaudette, one of these players should have been moved, anyone but Gaudette or Benn would have made room for one of the T's.

Fact, Jim Benning should always keep at least 4 million in cap space to take advantages of opportunities that may or may not come and he better chose the right opportunity if two present themselves at different times. - manvanfan
Are you going to pretend we don't have a bunch of dead weight salary preventing us from developing youth or paying players market value?
If the youth isn't ready, the GM isn't as good at drafting as advertised. It's been 7 years. Stop talking about empty cupboards, there's been plenty of time to fill them since. Horvat is still the Canucks best player and he's a Gillis pick.
Sure, there are other players with more talent. Not many but a couple. We've picked in the top 10 how many times since we drafted Bo?

I think he has tried to get rid of some but other teams asked if he was serious and said thanks but take a hike.

ASL said before " If you are having the same issues after you have changed the players then it falls on the coaching" . He is so right on that comment. The systems and the style is predictable and outdated.
The bottom 6 have produced over a goal a game. Most of the issues are coming from higher end players IMO.
I don't know how much longer they can go before Benning steps in and says to Green and his staff you have lost the room.

Benning also said and thought Baertschi and Linden Vey were worth second round picks, he also though Gudbranson was worth McCann and the 33rd overall pick, and, etc. whatever he says is taken with a grain of salt because he’s wrong more than he’s right.

I’d say they both deserve to go, but I’m not sure there’s much point in doing it until the end of the season. A new coach would have virtually no practice time to institute a completely different system.
It’s also not incomprehensible that they turn their season around, although it sure doesn’t look likely. The core of the team is largely the same players that played so well last season and in the bubble. They haven’t forgotten how to hockey.

The funny thing about Sven is in his contract year he had 18 goals . I said he was worth 1.2 mil only ,and you and a few other jumped on me most of the summer and said he was a 20 goal scorer and worth 3.5 mil. I know I come across as an arrogant twat for pointing this out but you called the shot and now are complaining about Baertschi. I also said Jake was worth 1.2 to 1.5 mil and you again said he is a 20 goal scorer and should be close to three mil.
I could see your argument for wanting to sign them at that price and they did. So now you are blaming the guy for doing pretty much what you wanted him to do.

If you have people that can replace them and not miss a beat (last years success obviously ) then sure

I wasn’t against the Eriksson signing at the time. (I know, fan card revoked), but that doesn’t stop me from blaming Benning for making the move.

I never wanted him to trade second round picks for Baertschi or Vey, ever, I wanted him to rebuild and draft, you’re full of poop.
This is a guy who thought Eriksson was a good deal, he thought Dahlen was a good return for Burrrows, that Goldobin was a good return for Hansen, my point is, who cares what he thinks....he’s not right very often.

But he did draft Boeser, Pettersson and Hughes. - Pacificgem
I didn't say you wanted to trade a second for him. I said in his contract year when he had 18 goals in the summer there was many discussions about his next contract. The summer was pretty much one big heated argument about Sven and Granlunds upcoming contracts.
I lost count of how many time I heard he is a 3.5 mil player. All I am pointing out is a lot of times me and you and everyone else in here say we want something and later are against it.
Same as this year you and I ,Marwood and others agreed we did not want to sign the free agents that walked . There were others also . You can see people not the ones mentioned complaining already about letting them walk. This is a story that will grow.

That’s just what market value is, regarding Virtanen and the others, not what I think he’s worth, rather, what I think he’ll get when they do comparables.

I know. Sometimes the comparable book should be thrown out the window.
