I think it was the perfect storm. St Louis just became so deep that Fabbri couldn’t grab a spot where he could shine. In Detroit he could slide right into the top 6. I love this kid’s attitude. I bet he’s a morning person, but I forgive him for that - Jeremy Laura
I honestly do not know what a morning person is even though I wake up at 7-8 each morning ha ha. Loads of coffee and cigarettes gets me through my day |

That’s it, for sure. The opportunity in Detroit has is completely different. Bottom 6 role on a championship team is no joke. It’s a lot of pressure to shut down opposition and pitch in with scoring on limited minutes. Some guys just don’t do well in that spot. Some guys are amazing. I hope for a guy like Glendening that he gets a shot on a contender. He’s the same guy at 6 minutes or 16 minutes |

Exactly. I used to drink two pots of coffee a day when I worked in a warehouse, loading trucks with the forklift etc. one thing I liked about that job, no one talked to you in the morning. That’s so awful, but if I didn’t have a conversation before noon I was good to go. |

I find games like last night to be somewhat bittersweet... on one hand we once again saw some encouraging signs, especially from some of the players that will need to be part of the solution moving forward. On the other hand we saw just how far away we are. Entering the third period down by a goal and only generating 4 SOGs in the entire period is an indication of how badly we are lacking in high-end talent. I am still pleased with many of the off-season moves and I have been pleased with the development of many of the younger guys but I believe we are currently watching players that will be pieces of the puzzle once we turn the corner as opposed to the future stars as many of them should thrive once bumped down the lineup and playing behind some star power. Looking ahead, I don't see free agency or the trade market as our path to star power. That will need to come through the draft. If we are to believe the speculation of a double draft in the summer of 2022, then we have two seasons (this year and next) to continue turning over rocks in search of talent and developing the pieces we already have in the system. Hopefully Zadina, Raymond and Seider prove to be elite talents as well and at this point I think we have every reason to believe they might. As for Larkin, it is fun to imagine him just having to play his own game rather than feeling the weight of an entire franchise on his shoulders. so for the rest of this season, I am going to measure success in many ways other than the scoreboard and look forward to the summer of 2022 where we can hopefully inject two drafts worth of talent into this system. |

And Jeremy, I just want to say a quick thank you for all you do here! Your passion and enthusiasm for the Wings shines through and the huge following you have here is a reflection of our appreciation. |

Two more seasons will also provide Yzerman with huge financial flexibility as most of the bad contracts he inherited will have expired and if he chooses to extend any of them at that time it will be at a more reasonable cap number and for roles they may be better suited for. For these reasons I'm not overly concerned with Blashill's bad coaching. the only issue I would have would be if he was hindering the development of the younger guys and I would have to think Yzerman would not let that happen. |

Blash is essentially a place holder for Lane Lambert, and I am OK with that. And right now the only kind of hockey the Wings should be playing is the low-event (boring) close-checking style till they get more talent on this team. |

Thank you so much for that! Your head is in the right place. My solace is, we stayed within one goal of last year’s cup winner. Detroit hasn’t won a game in TB since 2011. This division is a handful. Unfortunately we have both Stanley Cup finalists, a Florida team that keeps getting better, A Carolina team that keeps getting better. Nashville is sort of an interesting case. They were in the cup finals just a few years back, but everything just got mucked up. Duchene and Johansson aren’t consistently doing what guys at that pay scale need to do. The team has talent, just seems like it’s not clicking. Long story long - every team of the 8 except for Detroit and Chicago feel like they can make a run into the post season. If the schedule is chopped down to 40, every win just got way more important. The urgency is incredible, and Detroit will be better for playing in this pressure cooker as long as they don’t get too far down. |

I was hoping LL would have done an interview last summer. |
