You could also argue that Rangers, Leafs and Blue Jackets have had picks that have gone on to be key members of other teams.
I thought you were referring to guys who had played several seasons as depth guys on the team.
I was expecting you to mention DeAngelo. - Reubenkincade

You could JB a good "F" on drafts 2014 and 2016 but I haven't seen a GM be able to win every draft. - manvanfan
Me neither, no one gets it right 100% of the time. Benning’s faults aren’t on the draft floor, they’re everywhere else.
In 2016 they finished second last and didn’t have a second or third round pick, that’s just inexcusable. |

I mean it can’t get much hotter, I’ve seen plenty of people who have said that they were neutral or happy with Benning who have admitted they were wrong. Even the national media is starting to question him and they’ve been pretty pro-Benning in the past - Nucker101
I don’t know how you put this on Benning, same group went far in the bubble. Tanev is missed big time. |

Bieksa told the truth, a comment like that is the ultimate insult.

Bieksa: “The #Canucks are fun to play against. That’s the worst thing you could say about a team” - VanHockeyGuy
Also called them “gracious losers” which is spot on. In the first TO blowout Simmonds took a run at Hughes then kicked Benn’s ass(respect to Benn though). Shouldn’t the Canucks be the ones letting out frustration in a blowout loss?
People called the previous era teams soft but I definitely remember guys like Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa, Torres, Sestito, etc stirring poop up if the team was losing, hell they did during games they were winning in. |

They got carried by amazing goaltending. And lol I can put this on Benning by simply visiting CapFriendly’s website and laughing at the Canucks page |

Philly had 10 picks in the 2016 draft and got Carter Hart out of it. Not sure they are going to get much else of out their other 9 picks. |

An entire team of players feelings knowing that if they quit playing that the GM will be gone... How many GM's are going to get rolled by this team and their "feelings"? - manvanfan
But that didn't answer any of my questions though lol. I get what you are saying, but players feelings, whether we like it or not, get accounted for in this league. Look at Laine, Dubois, puljuarvi, tryamkin, Bennett, Kesler, Tavares. Unhappy players have more leverage than people think. |

I think your forwards as a group are perfectly competitive in the North division. Not the best, not the worst, middle of the pack.
Your defense and goaltending are not even close to being good enough.
Might be time to sacrifice some forward depth for a d-man. Edler looks like time has passed him by if Jason Spezza is beating him one on one. |

Even if you don't want to put this on JB, it's too scary to leave him in now, he can move this team from a re-tool to rebuild. |

Set new record highs for giving up scoring chances in a game. Two games in a row. Canucks weren't this bad last year. It wasn't just goaltending. The entire team was better. |

This is going to be a huge problem, moving forward.
Canucks have 2 flyweights as their top production guys, with no-one on the team able to dish out some toughness on a consistent basis. F uck these guys won't even bump a player.
What a mess. |

Demko is a good goaltender, but you're correct they're getting let down by a crap D.

I don’t think it was just goaltending against st.louis or minny. It was a dominant top6 amd powerplay. |

ok, but you still aren't answering my question. Given what you said before, about his inheriting a bad roster and turning a franchise around and what not, what does Benning have to do/not do for you to come around to thinking that the team and franchise may be better off with change at that position? and how long do you give him now, 1 more year? 2 more years? till the end of his contract? |

But that’s the beauty of having more picks, they missed on their first rounder but got a franchise goaltender with their second round pick.
It’s like when local boy Lucic was available in 2006 but Nonis was trading away picks like candy and we didn’t have a second rounder to take him. I don’t know if you remember but it was a story back then. Lucic was tough enough to be an NHL heavyweight at 18 years old they said, and he was. |

Petey needs another 20 lbs. Podz is coming in.
Bench Virtanen and MacEwen for not doing anything even though the rest of the bottom is doing the same nothing just without hitting.
