Apparently, some of the guys really like this team having ample softness. - Reubenkincade
He definitely has flaws, but I don't really get the softness in his game? He's fairly tenacious and isn't much of a floater (though he spends a lot of time/energy skating around aimlessly and has an ugly stride). That being said I think he'd be a very different player if he wasn't the lightest on the team. He needs 15+ pounds to start holding his own |

The team has played like sh!t in front of him yes but Holtby also needs to step up and make a fu**cking save as well. Stop whining and set the example it's why he's here. Or, just roll with Demko and let him play through his issues and Holtby can watch from the sidelines. Either way, step the f*uck up. - LordHumungous
Don't disagree. That's why I think Green's in trouble, step up and get a hold of the room. The team needs less goalie captains managing stuff outside the crease |

I want Baum and Brown fired as well. Defensive structure is Baumgartners responsibility and the system in place sucks. When every player for our team, past and present, under him say it is overly complicated, you know he sucks as a coach. and our PP is not very good. Too much perimeter passing until the pass gets picked off and sent down. |

Not sure he can gain any weight, due to his stomach ailment. |

Jake is 6 weeks older than him, and everyone talks about how enough is enough with him, but, for some reason they want to give Gaudette chance after chance. - Reubenkincade
Gaudette = later round pick that's improving every season, see his effort to be better
Jake = 6 OA pick who hasn't really improved to what expectations are, very polarizing as his effort just isn't there, has been on the team longer
So ya, they're about the same age but one has been in the show longer and hasn't shown the same level of improvement. |

Doing a bit of capfriendly number crunching, with next season in mind. Currently the Canucks have 13 players signed, with 23 million in cap space.
Let's assume that Pouty signs a comparable to Barzal(7 million per) and Hughes signs a comparable to Krug(6.5 million)
That puts remaining cap at 9.5 million, with 8 players to sign. Demko, will take at least 2.5 million, leaving 7 million with 7 players remaining to sign, to fill out the 23 man roster.
If the Canucks sign one free agent in the 3 million range(Pearson?), that leaves 6 remaining players, need to be signed at the league minimum 750,000.
Benning not leaving much room for his replacement to work with. - Reubenkincade

If this was one or two bad games, I'd agree. I think for a stretch of this long, the frustration has been building up for someone new like Holtby to step up and say something speaks more to just the usual breakdown accountability talks for me - WhiteLie
Talks about being accountable to your teammates are pretty much constant in hockey. Where it's breaking down is when a guy who's supposed to be a leader preaches it, like Miller, then coasts through game after game.

I had to google that, had no idea. Sounds like he's solved it now but he's playing catch up now, so someone's really got to believe in his work ethic to make an impact sooner rather than later |

Miller has been atrocious. He needs a long, hard look into a mirror and he needs to shut up while doing it. |

Lordy's a D man. He probably has some scarring from being yelled at by his Goalies that he's getting out here. He knows who's boss back there though. |

Really?
As was discussed yesterday, I don't believe some of the physical players, like Jake and Zack are appreciated by Green, who tends to bench or sit them out, for having a decent shift/game.
It is got to be frustrating to not only try figure out this stupid convoluted systems, but also try to figure out when the coa h deems it acceptable to be physical and when the coach wants the player to do a fly-by. |

The amount of times I have seen a man in front of the net screening the goalie I can count on one finger.
The number of big hits this year I can count on another finger.

I alluded to it with Lordy, I think that's on Green. They are watching film, they are seeing this breakdown from Miller, and then watching him get rolled out with the top unit game after game. Green is coaching for an extension (or his next job) and seemingly can't afford to bench his top player despite him deserving it, leaving accountability to the wayside. That's why my original post was that the optics aren't great that the players feel the need to do that on ice and not between periods/post game |

I highly doubt they are being benched for being physical. I do believe they get benched for complete lack of defensive awareness, 1 good shift out of 10 or any number of other reasons however. |
